Yes, depending on foreign body location, surgery may not be indicated.  Eventually, fibrous scar tissue may result in the pellets being encased and substantially compartmentalized, and minimizing plasma [lead].  At least that's theory.  But then you see gunshot survivors like Greg Lemond who still carries dozens of pellets and he swerz that the lead resulted in (or accelerated or exacerbated the onset of) his mitochondrial myopathy.
