Went out crabbing to Half Moon Bay with Mike (rnrgeek) and Sean (fish67) and also met Don (camodon) at the shore. Weather was beautiful when we launched at 0830 until we dropped out pots in the water around 0930. Then the wind picked up just like that in seconds blowing 15-20 mph and gusting up to 30 mph. In the video you can see how the wind picked up in a flip of a switch. Battled the wind and the surf for 20 mins then decided life is more precious than some crabs. Valuable lesson on how weather can change in a instant. Be safe out on the water.

I've been through similar situations several times.  I always have a tow rope with me.  I've used it more than once to tow a couple of people back over mile because they were exhausted from the elements.  Thank goodness for pedal kayaks.

8-11 mph with 4 feet surf 1 feet wind wave. I expected a little more windy than when we launched but not 30 mph.

Nice to be able to load the traps on the PA.  That would have sucked to have to carry 3 on the back of your boat - I'd have probably left them out there and gone back later rather than carry them on my Revo.  It can handle way worse weather than what you guys were in (without crab pots loaded obv.), but its not really comfortable.

Did you get to try for any flatfish?

When you are crabbing you have a whole lot of tow rope with you :)

We were fighing the wind and the waves for 20 mins at where we dropped our trap until we decided to come back to the land and I think it took us about 45 mins.

I try to always refer to multiple sources for the forecast just in case someone is calling for something significantly different than someone else...  Not second guessing you.  Many of us have been caught in conditions that weren't in anyone's forecast.  Good on you guys for being ready.

That looks lumpy! Thanks for the video.

Those easterly winds can be bad news. They can come up suddenly and tend to get stronger the further you get from shore.

It was so much easier to throw it on Sean's PA than trying load it on my revo in the wind. Fighting against the wind and the wave was challenging enough. Fishing was not in my mind at the moment.
