General Fishing Tips / Avet sx

I just had my Avet serviced a few a months ago or so for the first time. I've only used it a few times last year but I figured it is better to have a good working reel ready when needed. The problem I have now is that the reel feels sluggish like there is something inside keeping it from winding smoothly. Any of you folks ever experienced this with this reel? I love this Avet for the fact that it is small and holds a lot of line.

Well, I think it is time to deposit some sturgeon hours. I was thinking of launching
at the 9th Street Benicia public ramp then kayak across to the other side around
Post Costa. I have never fished that side of the straight. A Friend said that people
have been catching sturgeon there but then again, it's fishing. Just never know
until you wet your line. We might get lucky and catch a by catch striper.

Company welcome. If you have a second rod stamp, you can fish two rods. Just
food for thought.

I need big time redemption going after those crappies. My game plan is to fish for the kokes in the morning at Oak Shore then Capell in the afternoon for more crappie beating.

Company welcome as always.

My next door neighbor showed his catch to me again and shared his rig. I hope it will increase my chance of catching some crappie this Friday.

Well, I've been having this huge itch to fish Capell Cove now all week long. Since I
will not be able to fish this weekend, I figured I'd have enough time to try and catch some fish before dark. Company welcome as always. Planning on getting there between 3:30-4:00 pm.

Since I'll be visiting my in laws in Salinas this weekend, I might as well take my kayak and do some fishing for perch.
The T13 wants me to take her out for a change.

Company welcome. I've just changed the date since Saturday
will be better weather wise. Planning on launching at the CG
jetty at 7am.

General Fishing Tips / Hawg Trough Saver

Not sure if this had been shared before but I thought I would to prevent some lost in the future. I picked up some leftover styro foam pads from work and cut
it into a strip size that would fit on the backside of the trough. Then I glued it together with some goop. You want to sand the trough first though so the glue
will stick. I tried it out and it worked. I hope you all like it.

I've been thinking of hitting that spot Tim had suggested from our last trip at Berry. Weather forecast said 30% chance of rain. I'll be showing up ready for heavy rain. Better safe than sorry. Company welcome. I'm off to get gas at Costco. Big catfish beware.
