Looking to buy a new/used yak. :smt007

Open to a lot of options so would love to know what people have available that they are willing to part with.

I live in San Francisco and space is at a premium so trying to stay 12' and under. Preferably Peddle (or option for peddle drive) but open to anything as I am also considering buying a 2nd yak to take back home (where Im from) to Stockton to fish the delta with friends and family.

Let me know whatcha got!

Thanks all,

Justin

Not sure how you feel about using inflatables but I got myself a used Hobie i12s and it's being serving me well so far. You could probably find one on CL.

I also live in cramped SF and got that yak for the same reasons as you.

^^------  the Hobie i12s might be a good idea in you're limited on space.

As for other peddle yaks under 12':

- Hobie Mirage Sport / 9'7"
- Hobie Mirage Compass / 12'
- Hobie Mirage i9s, i11s, i12s / Inflatable
- Hobie Mirage Revolution 11 - 11'6"
- Native Slayer Propel 10 / 10'
- Native Titan 10.5 / 10'9"
- FeelFree Lure 11.5 / 11'6"

Malibu mini-x at 9ft and 45 pounds is super stable and tracks well.

Don’t forget to check the weight capacity for the kayak you choose. For example if you weigh 200lbs you don’t want to be getting a hobie sport (225 max). You want to have room for gears and fish:)

Depending on your frame size and weight...
I’ve got a 2010 Hobie sport with normal wear on the bottom and a few “lumps” from trying it down too tightly to the roof. Still tracks well, leak free, and in good condition otherwise. Not exactly sure a fair price for a boat like this? Probably under $700...may need some feedback from other members about a fair price if your interested at all.

Thanks for the offer Trutta,

unfortunately as yatzmail mentioned, me being about 200lbs, getting a 225 max capacity yak isnt going to work.

Appreciate it though!

I'll look into it as an option. Only thing that worries me about it is taking it off the Mokolumne just south the the Camanche Dam when going for Steelhead. Water in there gets to under a foot or so in a handful of spots and I'd be paranoid it would puncture.

Like i said, ill keep an eye on CL just in case, i wouldnt mind having one of those for local lakes!

Yea, you definitely want a yak where you don't have to worry about, especially in shallow water like that. That said, I've ran it over rocks a few times and surprisingly the 1000 Denier PVC hull wasn't scratched at all.

We have a member of NWKA who uses his i11s all the time, over rocks, across beaches... no problems at all.  They're durable.

Would that happen to be Roger from Coos Bay?

Yes they’re durable if you take care of it. I use both i11s and i14T in ocean.
