Has anyone wrapped the bungee cords (upfront where you can slide the paddle underneath, trunk area, etc.) to prevent snagging a hook?  First time it happened, I had to go to shore to un-snag it.  Second time out in the salt, another kayaker helped me undo it.  I don't wanna remove it because they are useful.

My first attempt was using garden drip hose (since I couldn't find any plastic wire sheath), but that was a big fail.  I thought about vinyl tubing, but didn't wanna use clear tube (will get dirty looking quick).

Any ideas?

Alternative thought ... replace your bungee coard material with surgical tubing ... or cover it in the tubing as spider so nicely has shown us.

Do they even make black vinyl tubing?  I think after a few salt outings, those clear tubes would look nasty. Maybe I'll give it a shot anyways. I probably will have to cut it in pieces due to the way the bungee weaves like shoelace.

Then you might want to consider just replacing the bungee all together with surgical tubing.

It happens, but not that often that I feel a need to replace or fix the bungee.  But one idea might be to find some tubing that you could cut up in sections and thread onto the bungee cord.

I've hooked my anchor rope, bow line, rod leash, paddle leash, and even wrapped my trolling line around my rear toggle handle or rudder more times than I can count.  But never hooked any of my bungee lines.

I've had to learn how to pay close attention to where my hook is, where it is going, and where it might stick at all times.

One thing you might be able to do is just replace your bungee with solid core rubber, I guess?   :smt102

If you got some old resistance training bands, maybe try that.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.
