Scotty & Yakattack probably make round bases too. If the bolt pattern is the same, I’d consider one of those instead of the RAM (unless its just for a FF…ram balls work fine for those).

It's for pelagics... wahoo/mahi... I'm guessing the ram mounts won't hold up to those too well and I'll end up with a rod crashing on my head?

If you want replacements, I probably have some I can give ya.

Much appreciated - are they similar?  I thought the RAM mounts were plastic, this is annodized aluminum?  Just an older generation?

Depends on the mount/part.  A lot of RAM's stuff is fiber-reinforced plastic and a lot is coated aluminum (some painted, some anodized, other's dipped in rubberized plastic)

You’re right, I found aluminum bases with rubber/plastic ball.  Those were powder coated.  Hopefully all same hole pattern.  Do the shotgun holders with ball mount have any issues with holding up to strikes?  I’ve only used the flush mount scotty holders and the in-hull recessed ones.

New (to me) scupper pro.  Old owner said he had parts for this, but couldn't find them.

Does anyone know what brand/model these bases are for?

I told Jimmy he got totally lucky in stumbling across this school of fish... but as the old saying goes:
“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”

As much time as Jim spends on/in/under the water, he created his own opportunity.  Anything can happen while diving, but by constantly hustling, he put the odds in his favor and made this happen.  Metaphorical in a lot of ways; all those hours of “work” led to an amazing opportunity.

I’m still super stoked for you & that was such a great way to shoot a beautiful fish!   :-)

Looking for something along the line of a Phenix 9' or close to it.
Basically a good 9' stick for surface irons, etc.

Figure it's a longshot, but I know a lot of you hoard gear in your garage.   :-D

That's a really sweet ride!  Thank you Wilderness Systems!

Not enough gets said about these sponsors,  but I really appreciate them stepping up to support our community and members!

Now I have to try and sneak out to get a few AOTY species & max out my tickets.  :)

Post a few pictures of your speargun setup (including tip/flopper).  May be a simple fix.   :-)

It would cost less to use real squid instead of B2 or other brand of plastics.  Just saying...

But it would smell so much worse when I leave it in my backseat for a week...  :smt011

This yak and I have been together for many many epic adventures after buying it in 10yrs ago from Joel.  The transaction happened at a dinner at potatoriver's (stuart) old house with Papa Smurf (NCKA godfather Bill) & Troutslayer/Hanapaa/Mooch (Joel).  Great night as I drove home with a full belly courtesy of Stuart/Susan, a new (used) yak from Joel, and a ziploc of hand poured swimbaits from Bill. Freddie Savage may have been there, but my memory has gotten spotty as I age.  This kayak has served me very well and if the proceeds could help Rachel out in any way, I know that Joel would be beaming with pride and happiness.  :)
