You can learn a lot lurking but will get more specific questions answered when you make a few posts.  There are some folks who just want good fishing spots and updates but don't want to put in the effort to share or actually become a member of the community.  I have met some great people on NCKA and don't mind sharing info or fishing with them.  What I don't want is someone who doesn't want to be part of the community to use posted info to raid a fishing spot or over fish it.  Nor do I want someone to become a member just to try and sell something like they would normally sell on Craigslist.  So if it weeds out some of the spammers and Intel thieves then I am okay with whatever admin decides.

And if anyone ever has questions please post as there is a good chance others may have similar ones.

I don't post often anymore, don't consider myself a lurker though. Still communicate and fish with members, but got to the point where I'd rather not post reports. Don't get me wrong, love this community, but too many times now I've seen NCKA be the sole factor in an area being overfished. That's the Internet though. NCKA probably wouldn't be what it is if accessibility was extremely limited.

Also true.  But for those that want to build a network of good fishing friends it helps when they communicate with others.  Once they get a group of folks they trust going out with then they can reduce posts like you and no one will hold that against you.

I am as anti social as they come and have isolated myself right out of having a good time in the past.  I tried the lurking and learning thing for at least a year and never posted.  I learned a lot but my membership was canceled do to no activity.  So once I participated it changed my life.  Just saying.

See you guys out OTW or like me under the water.

I can respect that. But, I'd think that PB'ers snooping on this website would be a far more likely cause of overfishing than actual kayakers---especially NCKA kayakers...
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

If folks come in here just looking for fishing spots they are seriously missing the boat. The amount of information openly shared and just generally available on here about technique, gear, care and preparation, safety exc... is the true treasure trove of you ask me.

^^^yup^^^. It really is. Its phenomenal. And it just seems like a soup kitchen of information for anybody to take in that pleases. I base that statement on the ratio in the MEMBERS section of replies to views. For it being "members", thats a pretty cattywompass ratio.

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it
