Caught on a sabiki rig while jigging for bait in front of capitola pier...

Looks like a small Barred to me or a walleye surf perch.

I checked the regs and there are only size limits on RedTail Surfperch from what I could see...

Drifting this little guy in front of the Pleasure Point kelp got me a nice looking ling all the way up to right under my yak...then he looked up, winked at me, let go and swam back down!!

Classic live bait! Down in SoCal ( in my Pier fishing days) that would be a potential halibut or calico bass bait right there!
