I have a Tarpon 140 and am thinking about replacing the standard seat with one that gives more upper back support and comfort.  The comfort is usually OK in the ocean when I have the padding of my wetsuit, but I found it more fatiguing when I fished Lexington without a wet suit.  Are there specific seats that work well with the Tarpon contours?  Any problems with certain seats, e.g. slipping etc.?

Doug - here's what I use - expensive but worth it  (if you spend enough time fishing...like me :smt003)

you might have to install a few more eye loops on your yak to accommodate this particular seat.....wish you told me at the Moss derby, I could have had you try out my seat on your kayak  :smt011

mooch is right about that seat. Its got that "all day" back support and can support alot of gear for boats that arent neccessarily set up for fishing. I use one on a malibu 4.4 that isnt set up and it gives me the option.
But I am a Tarpon rider too and I had some similiar issues with all day comfort minus wetsuit. Here is what I did.
Got one of the, now standard issue, Wilderness Systems tarpon seat backs along with a "Hot seat".  You can even add the "Surf to Summit" tarpon seat pad that has the pouch on the back, for the double padded seat.
All this stuff is easy to find on most kayak fishing outfitter web site.
hope this helps

Surf to Summit seats last the longest IMHO, made in the USA and they stand behind their stuff.  That said I see more "uncomfortable" seats from being poorly adjusted vs. poorly made/designed.  Spend some time getting it installed right and it will make a HUGE difference.

Surf to summit elite=the bomb.

I love mine.

A bit pricey, but damn it is an awesome seat.

While we're on this subject I was thinking of adding a little more padding to my seat as well. After 4 hours it starts to get pretty uncomfortable. KFS has a stick on pad that might fit well under my current seat http://kayakfishingstuff.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=Padz&Category_Code=sts Anyone have any experience or comments on it?
