So I'm installing a Garmin Striker 4cv on my kayak and since this is my first kayak, I'm having trouble deciding where to run the wiring (since I need to put a hole in the kayak, I'd like to do it only once.)  I've got mounting points in the center, on tracks right and left, as well as fixed points right and left.  Trying to figure out what makes the most sense mounting wise.  I see a lot of kayaks with the sonar mounted on the side, but then I read something about it being in the way of fishing lines.

Let me know your thoughts on this, I'm sure in the long run, I'll figure it out myself, but I'd like to make the best educated guess for this first kayak.

Thanks!

Put on the opposite side that you normally fish. Keep it low enough and it will not get in the way if you have to fish both sides.
