Have shoulder problem, so my first kayak is an OK Torque.  Catching lots of rockfish so far, & turning most loose.  Had my 1st ling confiscated; it was 22", I swear.  But apparently measuring it w/ a Berkley lip-grabber stretches it some, & when laid flat, the fish was 21-1/2", according to F & G.  Been fishing rivers, streams, & lakes for 60 years; & never seen F & G; 3rd time on Monterey Bay & I got to meet them.  And lost my 1st ling.  I learned how to measure fish correctly & didn't get cited tho.  See you OTW !

Dodged an expensive bullet there with fish measurement.  Spend less than $10 & buy yourself a Hog Trough.  Got mine (Berkeley) at Wal-Mart for like $6.99.  That will help take the guesswork out of it and they don't take up much room.

There is a fairly good group of us that fish the Monterey area so hit us up if you are ever looking for someone to go out with you!

Welcome!

~Bill

A couple of us will be launching from 4 mile beach this coming Sunday. You are welcome to join. Crab and rock will be targeted.
1st Place in a private tournament I did not invite anyone else to be in. (and I barely squeaked out a victory)

Thanks for the warm reception, and the advice on the Hog Trough; will do.  Also appreciate the invite to 4 mile, FishyFishy, even tho I can't make it this weekend.  Coincidentally "here fishy fishy" has been my never fail fishing mantra, when the bite's slow.  Guess I'm not the only one, huh.

I do not use a hawg trough, but have a sticker I picked up at west marine on my paddle.  You can also just use colored electrical tape to mark key lengths.  I always make sure that I have at least a half inch on any size, makes up for any shrink plus almost always ensure you are safe.
