The workable date KC came up with is August 13th.  I know this will not acommodate everyone who wants, but that is the target.  And unlike many derbies, having a lot of entrants is not the primary aspect.

Having fun and hanging with old and new friends is what it's about.  Details will follow, and I'll post here on this fist enry, as I get them.  Probly mid-week.

It's roots.  Launch from Santa Cruz hrbor, make it back by 11am NOON weigh-in, and then go BBQ.

August will also mean more and better fish.  We're still waiting for halibut to really come in this year, so mid-August might be prime time.  I hope so!!!

After Labor Day! That's the end of tourist parking.  Pretty sure no one's going to want to pay another parking fee after they have paid launch.

Parking is 12.50 all day.  Park and launch is the same, 12.50.

Dang I thought the Central Coast Slamdown was in September...but it IS on August 13 this year. That is the only other event in August.

MBK will happen next year for sure.  they want to alternte with KC.  and Pat and Eugene should come to KC.

WE'll see what happens but KC is considering the 13th right now.  It might b smaller, but that might be better.  Less competitions for 1st prize, likely be a new OK or Old Town kayak, again.
