AOTY Picture Tip - Heil Lingcod

Hi All,

This year we've seen a few fish where due to glare, we've either had to downgrade or work really hard to attempt to verify the fish's length.  This is because certain boards (white, unmarked hawg troughs and check it stiks primarily) just throw off a ton of glare due to lack of contrast in hash marks.  Here's a pro tip for you AOTY competitors to ensure that we can clearly see the marks.  It is easier to do if you have a friend with you, but can definitely help even if you are taking pictures alone and have a cooperating fish. 

We're calling it the Heil Lingcod pose - a strategically placed shadow on the tail of the fish will help us to see the hash marks clearly.

That looks so easy! 

This works under a bright sky.  But not if it's hazy or overcast.  I know from experience.

So,  would you help a brother out and tell us which fish can be measured chin down? Cabazon only?
