Look like we will have a shorter season this year. Take advantage of the short season guys. The rest of the areas will be determined in April.

Pigeon Point to U.S./Mexico Border (Monterey and South)
April 7-30
minimum size limit: 24 inches total length
daily bag limit: 2 salmon of any species except Coho

Only Monterey (Pigeon Point south) has an April season.  Everyone else is closed, DFW took in season action last night.  The rest of the season will be determined at the PFMC meeting next month.  The alternatives are on page 5 of this document:

These options all look good to me. We didn't catch our first salmon until August anyway, and still caught 40 in the season.
I've heard predictions that there will be more fish in the ocean this year than last, and hopefully there will be more three-year-olds in the mix.
Can't wait!
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

Don't get too jealous of April salmon fishing in Monterey Bay. Because we get totally boned in all 3 options, with the season potentially closing in May or June...fucken bullshit! The peak bite is usually in July/August for us. This will be 2 consecutive years of premature closure :-(

We had zero open days last year out of Eureka and Trinidad, I'm just happy for the opportunity this year.

Sigh, it doesn't matter when it starts or where, because Chet and Lost Anchovy and Andrew will surely catch 70% of what gets caught  :smt010 :smt010!  Although, Krishna was another silent killer...before work nonetheless -- you go Bro!   :smt023

Welcome to life in the pink zone....

Dang these responses are all over the place, don't know if I should be happy, dissapointed or what? Guess it doesn't really matter for me since don't seem to be able to catch the elusive silver fish anyway. :smt013 :smt013 :smt013

Thankful for the rockfish and Halibut I intend to catch this season (moist or dry ass as it may be  :smt001)

Lost Anchovy fishing tip of the day.

Michael...I'll tell you my secret...SHHH...Here are the steps! 1) Mostly chill out...drink a beer.  step 2) Switch between fishing, chilling, and eating food.
When the action picks up, you will know by the wildlife. At that time put your energy into getting the bite. If it is a no go...repeats 1) and 2)
If you don't find enjoyment in this method sell your kayak to Sonny.   :smt005 :smt005
