General Talk / GW in PA
« on: June 28, 2017, 10:43:33 AM »
Just a heads up for those interested ... Daisey a 14' female great white has been cruising the point arena cove recently. Saturday as my dad and I were diving in the super murky water she decided to give the kayakers just south of us a couple love taps :) One guy was able to get a picture and sent to farralon shark study place and was able to get the name and other info of shark. Fishing was terrible both sat & sun water was dark dark brown. Should of tried for salmon I guess !   :smt006

General Talk / Redwoods & Rapids
« on: January 29, 2017, 03:59:15 PM »
The rapids may not be huge but, they were plenty big and fast to get my heart pumping. Got my new Tarpon 120 Ultralite and couldn't wait to test it out. Drove to a remote creek did a bit of scouting and had some fun for a couple afternoons. Oh and it was also my trial run for my kokatat pants and jacket, worked great, stayed dry both days. As for the new yak ... I loved being able to carry it like a suitcase to the launch! And as for how it handled.... there is no wipeout footage clips  :smt003 Really impressed!!!

General Talk / Waterproof cameras
« on: April 25, 2016, 06:59:30 PM »
So... My Fujifilm xp55 is becoming unreliable, dosent like to turn on and off very easily sometimes takes two or three tries. Anyway, my question to ya'all is what do you use? I read the reviews online but I don't trust them and wanted some kayak tested opinions. Im talking point and shoot type cameras not go-pro style, just to be clear.

General Talk / Kayak wars 2015
« on: December 14, 2015, 10:31:20 PM »
I didnt do much this year, sorry team :( got addicted to the salt, and am a newb at it so only managed 4 species and its Hard to drive to the fresh when lingcod and gophers taste so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enough with excuses, not why I started this anyway. Im just curious to get some opinions on where people stand if the competition continues next year, it doesn't seem like many people are into it... I like the general  idea of the game but I am having 2nd thoughts about competing again if it does happen.
 Whats everyone else think?

Oh I did make a last ditch effort today to try and get some more fish.....Rough to say the least, here is a clip of conditions I batteld for almost 8 hrs to catch one 16.25" bass. LOL

General Talk / Insearchoffish Update/ Kinda a dive report
« on: April 15, 2015, 07:49:18 PM »
Well for those that don't know its been a little over a month since I have moved from the valley and back to my hometown on the mendo coast. It is going to take awhile longer for me to get used to the cold weather over here but other than that it is great to be back home. I got real lucky and a family friend is renting me a nice little house and two bonuses, 1 plenty of room for the pottery studio the other is I am in love with the view from my bedroom...

makes me want to just sit in bed, and its freaking awesome to be able to check ocean conditions and go right back to sleep if I see whitecaps!
Traffic around these parts can be pretty ridiculous at times  :smt005

But luckily they didn't make me late to my meeting....Got the opportunity to hike in the woods with a Mendocino Redwood Company biologist type person in search of spotted owls. We found a likely location and she began to call them, within minutes one appeared. The real cool part came next, she opened a box put a mouse on a stick and handed it to me. Then without making a sound the owl swoops down and grabs it off of the stick! We got it on video but I still need to get it on my computer but here is a pic of it eating one of the 5 we fed it. One of the coolest experiences I have ever had with a wild animal!

The only real exciting thing ive done since being here other than that is I took my dive gear out of retirement and went out with my dad and a couple friends to dive up some sea slugs! The vis was complete shit and it was too rough to launch the yaks, but man it felt good to get under the water again!!

Nothing big but boy did they taste good! Made one into ceviche, the other we tempouraed and deep fried the other bread crumbs and butter fry, I may end up fat if I keep this up :) Oh and speaking of slugs.... I may not have tomato worms to deal with over here, but found this guy in my backyard the other day, got to keep an eye out on them, don't want um getting my lettuce and potatoes I just planted!

Today was a good day! A new addition to my family arrived..

Don't know if Racing Rob told yall or not but I proud to say I am a new member of the Wilderness team! Super Stoked!!!!!!

Another thing Im proud to say is that I got my act together and got my reg and $ for GS9 in the mail yesterday, excited to meet some new folks and hang with old friends.

My internet is supposed to get hooked up on the 28th so I will be back on the board with regular reports and hookups again.

Apologies to my KW team, I promise I will start fishing again SOON!!! Only been out on a yak once this year so far  :smt011

Tight lines and big smiles my friends :smt006

General Talk / Amador Highlights
« on: February 18, 2015, 10:07:18 AM »
Well made another slideshow out of my old pics.

Amador: known for its trout, high prices, crowds and trashy shorelines. All that but I still find it worth it. Especially if your on the AOTY hunt, and not for a trout  :smt003  I kinda regret putting the vid in sepia tone but that's why im making the vids, to practice my skills. Sunrise and sunsets don't look quite as epic. Anyways here it is..
