AOTY / Re: Clarification on Photo Rules
« on: April 17, 2021, 09:42:48 AM »
Congrats on your PB ling It’s always fun trying to get a good picture of a fish your releasing. As far as using editing to your photo to enhance markings I don’t see an issue with that.. it is better as stated to just color your hash marks on your board. The mouth of your Lingcod does not seem to be fully closed even with your hand holding it to the board. That would be the main reason I see to reject or ask for another picture.   I try to press on the gil plate area to close a lings mouth and push to the board not sure that helps  :smt003

AOTY / Re: VOTE: Should we Postpone the AOTY DOTY awards ceremony?
« on: March 14, 2020, 10:43:41 AM »
Thanks Pat! I voted to continue as normal but understand the concerns. It would not be a big deal to move the date? The weather only gets better too. Although I would like to continue the end of March dates for future AOTY awards  :smt003

https://kayakfishingsonoma.com/ would be another awesome guide to check out. He is also a member of NCKA.
Thanks for the recommendation Victor ! Unfortunately I only do trips for “ adults “ 18years or older. If he’s 18 plus perfect let’s setup a trip  :smt003
My suggestion would be to setup a trip with Eric as he’s one of the OG’s around here as far guides go and shelter would be one amazing place to learn.
Oh and cheers for wanting to show your Son the sport and doing it safely.

Ahhh it’s not so “Simple” this year  :smt003. I loved when this event started out it was very unique for kayak tournaments. I’ll be there in my Hobie keeping it simple paddling and using the handline.

AOTY / Re: AOTY 2019 Recommendations anyone?
« on: December 27, 2018, 08:02:37 AM »
This year went great. As my first year judging I would like to add my thoughts on open mouth and picture location . It’s hard to keep the mouth closed on any live fish.... I still feel that mouth closed pictures is possible and in order to keep the rule simple ( mouth is open is a yes or no question) if it’s open I think -1” should taken off. This keeps it simple to judge and fair for  all. Or what about all closed mouth fish get extra .5” ?? No just kidding !
Second I feel a picture with the fish near or on the kayak should be required. We get pictures taken at home with the fish. It would help prove your fish was caught on a kayak and not a friends fish or boat caught.

Just my 2cents on rules that could be cleared up.
Thanks everyone It’s been fun judging and competing. Looking foward to next year and more.

Thanks Jim, your awesome for doing as much as you have. It’s not a bad thing we’ve become to big and are able to now raise a good amount of money to help others plus use up all of Poles internet data ;).
Seems the time has come to make these taxable if we want to continue. I’m always happy to help just not with the tax stuff  :smt003
