Took me a lot of pondering to get it up there without scratching or denting my new car. But finally got it down fairly effortlessly

Which weighs more, the car or the boat?

I think I got a hernia just thinking about hoisting that thing up there solo. Nice work on no dents or scrapes.

Tucked a folded blanket into the trunk and shut it. Set nose on blanket on trunk lid. Slid it up until nose was resting on rear rail, lifted kayak and slid it forward

I used that on a Jackson Big Tuna (lighter boat) on a Subaru Outback
I got the scratches to prove it!

Looks good.
Now I know who it is when I pass through Oakdale from Riverbank.

funny, i was thinking the same thing. 

Way to go Jeff. Living in the mountains gave you great strength. One exception, you WILL scratch that car up no matter how careful you are.
