Thoughts, Prayers and Support needed...

I just got back from Nicaragua this morning and have found out that porky (bp)'s wife Raquel has been diagnosed with an aggressive kind of breast cancer called IDC. Invasive ductal carcinoma. With a substantial tumor....

Raquel is an awesome woman and mother and porky is a long time NCKA member and one of the original founders of our PIF efforts.

I have asked porky what the next steps are and this was what he said:

"We have mri thursday to look for more. Surgeon appt the 8th. Surgery shortly after. At that point they will stage her. But with the size of this thing she will likely be doing chemo. I can only hope she survives it all and it has not spread through her body. We need her. I got two girls.

This shit was in her unknowingly at Haileys PIF. It is absolutely devastating."

Brent is obviously extremely distraught and overwhelmed and I know he will appreciate any and all support. I obviously also let him know to keep us posted if he needs financial help from us/PIF.

Hang in there porky and tell Raquel and the girls that we love them!!

Terrible news, thoughts and prayers for their family.

Oh man, that is awful, so bummed to hear it, Brent, Raquel and family.

I don't know who they are seeing or how they feel about the diagnosis - and not to judge or disrespect anyone - but I recommend getting a second opinion if possible, particularly with a doc or med center that specializes in this type of cancer. I can say it made a huge difference in treatment and outcome in my own case.

Terrible! Terrible news..I know Brent personally as well. thoughts and prayers. I was doing some research I run into Standford Medical cancer proceedure. He may want to check that out. Thank Jim for letting us know and please keep us posted. Thanks

This is the fifth year of ongoing chemo treatment for my wife's ovarian cancer so I can really feel this. Chemo therapies have really improved the last couple of decades. Far more individually tailored to each individual. Side effects such as nausea are now well controlled by newer medicines. Total cures seldom happen but life can go on for a number of years with treatment. Keep your hope up!
