I’m looking for advice on where to launch at lake Shasta. I keep seeing reports of good rainbow fishing and since the wind will be crazy around me tomorrow I’m thinking of making the trip.

So I want to be somewhere around the dam area. I’m wanting to downrigger troll for trout, but will bring some bass gear as well.

I found digger bay marina and packers bay marina. Thoughts on those two? On google earth I also see a launch just west of the damn, but can’t find any info on it. Anyone have the scoop?

Suggestions are appreciated and company is welcome as well. Plan on launching around 6-7am if I get my butt on the road in time. Radio ch 69 in a hobie

The name of the ramp on the east side of the dam is Centimundi.  There is a place to launch on the west side of the dam too.  Not sure about the status of being able to cross the dam right now, maybe someone that has been there recently has the scoop on that.

Goodluck John. I am currently outfitting my Eddyline for DR trolling, I could use your sage advise. I think LS will be fishing good early this year.

Crash, thanks for that info! I think that’s what I needed to know.

Cpt, I wanted to hit Sonoma but the wind has been a little high this week. I know a little about DR trolling and I’ll tell you and show you everything I know.

Best action has been near the I-5 bridge, and you'll need to go DEEP, like 90-110' range, there's an 80 degree column of water that reaches all the way down to 40', so even the bass are pushed down right now.  The big wind yesterday and cold nights should turn the lake over in the next week or so, October is gonna be great.
