If any of you are coming up to Tahoe  this weekend please come prepared and be mindful of the weather and road conditions. Be conservative driving, skiing, boarding and yakking. The North Tahoe/Truckee Area Fire Depts have been busy with multiple weather/snow/ice incidents.  Vehicle accidents, Semi trucks, one even off River Rd onto the bike path, buried abandoned vehicles (luckily unoccupied),  Snowboarder death at Squaw, and now we are responding to a small avalanche in Squaw Valley Ski area with multiple buries. This series of storms is not over, avalanche danger will be high. Do not be afraid to wear your Beacon even in the developed Ski Areas.   Be prepared and supplied to be stranded  for awhile (hopefully not)  in your vehicle, or wherever you are staying. If you take medications bring enough/extra in case of delays, stranded or snowed in. Be aware were you stand or walk, we are having trees unload large chunks of snow and broken branches.

If you come to Tahoe informed and prepared, this weekend should be an adventure and Fun. North Tahoe SnowFest  kicks off this weekend with the Annual North Tahoe Firefighters Snowfest Pancake Breakfast at Tahoe City Fire St. 51  followed by the Snowfest  Parade.  Be aware Highway 28 from the Wye in Tahoe City to Grove Street will be closed from 11 amish to noonish.  Be Safe and Have Fun.

Thanks for the heads up Russ!
I'd head up for some pancakes if it weren't for the other drivers.

Thanks for the heads up,
We are having the same problems here
Shelter Cove Rd was closed today due to extreme conditions. Several vehicles slid off the icy roads, and 101 had its share of problems near Leggett.
If you are traveling mountain roads this week, be very careful out there.
