The amount of water that leaks in through those holes is so minimal especially if you use the right drill bit.
Water gets into your hull from your hatches. Little silicone on the threads and hole woulda done enough. 4
Safety First / Re: *BODY RECOVERED**. Overdue kayak fisherman in Trinidad« on: June 16, 2020, 07:43:56 AM »
Very sad to hear about this tragic event.
Definitely do not wear chest waders while kayaking. Go with a solid kayaking buddy who cares about your safety. His family said he was a strong swimmer so I really think the waders is what held him down. If you get 10 gallons of water fill your waders its an EXTRA 100lbs of weight tied to your body, making self rescue very difficult. Your life is worth more than 200$ worth of king salmon meat. 5
Safety First / Re: Why not to use mono from kayak« on: June 16, 2020, 07:35:31 AM »
Here's what you can do to avoid snagging bottom and getting stuck with unbreakable line.
Option 1) Use a weaker snap swivel on your weight. Option 2) Use 15-20lb mono for your leader. You can land a hard fighting king salmon on 15lb test with the right drag. I'm sure you can land a nice lingcod/halibut with the same line. 15lb line is stronger than you think. 6
Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Re: Bolinas RPT - 6-15-2020« on: June 15, 2020, 10:32:21 AM »
Someone needs to contact the Bolinas Rod and Reel Club.
They need to respond to this incident. I don't care if your family has lived there since the beginning of time. You don't own the beach or the water. Period. 7

Is that a kayak cooler bag? What kind is it?
I was on the water just before 7:00 this morning, trolled a frozen anchovy for 4 hours, No bites. Talked to a couple of boaters, they didn't get a bite either. Water looked good, little choppy early morning, calmed down by mid-morning. I did not see another kayaker, strange being the only yakker on the water. 9

Is it free to use it? How much?
Practice self rescue before you go. 10

General Fishing Tips / Re: Fishing Alviso Slough« on: February 19, 2020, 02:13:06 PM »
We launched out of Alviso Boat Ramp with our Revo 13s. First time we did it against an incoming tide with wind. Made it half way.
Second time we made it to the powerlines with an outgoing tide and no wind. I'd say its safe overall just watch those tides and time them right. A safety flag would be nice. 13
