For Sale / 2019 Hobie Outback for sale
« on: November 29, 2021, 01:26:37 PM »
2019 hobie mirage outback in camo for sale.

Stock:
-Mirage drive 180 with turbo fins
-Vantage ctw seat
-standard hobie paddle

Additional items I’m including:
-2x yak attack fully adjustable rod holders
-Lowrance hook 5 triple shot (side and down imaging) with GPS (kayak is wired for it already with battery tray)
-Reliable fishing kayaks bow kill bag
-kayak wheels with sand tires
-milk crate with rod holders
-bailing pump (just in case!)

This kayak is in good condition with minor scratches from normal use. No hull damage or deformation. I wired it for the 12v fish finder and installed a bow guard and low point guards (gator skins). Also had the under deck hobie brand battery holder.

All you need is a life jacket, rods and a net, this thing is rigged to fish, a very capable and stable kayak.

Please text me with questions or interest. Mike 925-360-6887

General Fishing Tips / Duck carcasses for crab pots?
« on: December 02, 2020, 04:48:01 PM »
Any other duck hunters out there use their carcasses for crab bait? If so, just whole, feathers and all (other than the breast you cut out to eat)? Or prepare them any other special way??

I think I’ll give it a try. May as well re-purpose what I can.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Doran report 11/30
« on: December 01, 2020, 09:07:33 AM »
Threw four hoops and two pots for 9 red/pacific rocks and two dungies. Gorgeous day on the water, but hoped for more dungies. Wish there was more fishing to do from Doran while the pots soak-other than the baby rock fish I’ve caught jigging the jetty.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / ARW for ‘buts?
« on: July 17, 2020, 08:11:19 PM »
Been a while since I have been able to get out on the yak due to “essential” work and other of life’s necessary evils. Did well at ARW in April/May. Not looking to blow up anyone’s spot nor looking for specific techniques or gps coordinates, I have my own.

Been itching to catch a door mat or two...Was just curious if the ARW part of the bay is worth my time for ‘buts as it’s been a couple months.

Any advice appreciated..DW

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Suggestions for 09/21
« on: September 20, 2019, 08:05:08 AM »
Looking to take my brother out tomorrow and put him on some fish. He is new to kayak fishing, but a skilled waterman.

Looks like the pay to play boats are crushing halibut and striper in the north bay, and rockfish on the big hungry.

Conditions are looking pretty good far as I can tell in both the bay and San Mateo coast. I was thinking Paradise Park for halibut/striper (I’ve never fished that area of the bay)  or HMB for rockfish???

Not looking to steal anyone’s hole, but if you have been to either area lately for these types of fishing, a tip or two would be appreciated as I haven’t been out in a while.

Introductions / Introduction
« on: September 11, 2019, 08:04:06 PM »
Good evening, my name is Mike. Thanks for having me!

I am not exactly new to kayak fishing, but new to the forum (first forum I have ever joined for any of my hobbies). I am an avid fisherman and enjoy many types of fishing.

I fish from my boat in the CA delta for largemouth bass and striper.

I am on my third kayak-2019 Hobie outback, which I primarily bought for the salt. I am mostly self taught as far as kayak fishing and have enjoyed crabbing in Bodega, rockfishing in central cal, and halibut fishing in the SF bay, etc so far. I hope to expand my knowledge of the sport and share my insights for what they’re worth.

I like diy kayak jobs as I have customized my current and previous two yaks.

I live in the east Bay Area, and look forward to seeing y’all on the water.

Tight lines!

-Mike
