I picked these up years ago but never used them. Just moved into a new(much smaller) place so I'm trying to thin things out for the sake of storage space. Free to anyone who can use them. Pick up in Napa.

Curious about the fold up idea.
Seeing how you only need 2 uses of it, did it have issues with the slider collar holding the flukes out?
I've been thinking about one for the 10' ridged.
Thanks
No issues at all. The collar on this particular anchor twists and then locks in place. It's holds well with the flukes both open and closed.

I picked this up a few years ago to fish for sturgeon but its only been in the water twice. Comes with an 8lb. anchor, 6 feet of chain, 75 feet if rope and an anchor trolley. The only thing that you'd need is a buoy for the quick release and you're ready to go. Make offer.

Pickup in Napa or we can arrange another meeting spot uf you don't need it asap.

Stripers are found in those shallow waters. But I've not figured out how to calculate the tides for those  - they seem way off from the Napa River tides, but are probably delayed a fixed amount of time. I would hate to get stranded in that mud. I've pedaled into the area just a little ways at one of the breaks to Napa Slough, and it got real shallow real quick.
Lots of tangled, narrow channels amongst huge expanses of ankle deep water out there. If you check out Google Earth, you can kinda figure out where the channels are and pick a path to safely navigate deeper into those impoundments. Know the tides though because you can get cut off from your way out of those ponds pretty easily.

Here's a fish that came out of one of those ponds.

Wanted To Buy / Re: looking for surf rod

I thought long heavy and cheap and bought a 12ft Penn Prevail II Surf Casting Fishing Rod 8-16oz, and I really don't think I made a good choice as it seems I cannot really cast the snare very far.  Just seems too stiff to me, but the reach is great for being taller than the waves.  Probably will try an ugly stick next.
Do you use mono or braid on your snaring reel? Once I finally switched to braid(and a glove for casting), my snare casting distance improved dramatically.

Stripers. Mostly around the breaks in the levees at the north and east sides of the ponds. The ponds are also a good access point to the sloughs on the western side of the Napa River.

For crab snaring ... long, heavy, and cheap is what you're looking for. I have a couple of 12' Okuma Tundra and they more than fit the crab snaring bill. Plenty of length and enough heft to toss 8-12oz. without reservation. I wouldn't want to do anything but crab snaring or shark/ray fishing with them though. I think they were right around $30 when I picked them up.

Beavers have been busy for sure. When I last went up in late June, the dam was only about knee high with a big unfinished section in the middle letting decent flow through. Looks like we stopped about a quarter mile short of your trip.

I'm thinking the last few years of low water conditions have taken their toll on the fish in that stretch.

South of edgerly isl... still a good day out there.
Amazing what this winter did to the river bed...
North section (freshwater) is SUPER shallow.
Still held schools of striper @spawn.
The beaver dam is backwatering almost 3 feet this year...
After last winter's flow destroyed the beaver dam, it was interesting to be able to explore the stretch above the dam for the first time in a while this spring.  You're absolutely right - it's much shallower up there than it previously was. Alot of the paddleable riffles are now too shallow, despite higher than usual cfs coming down. It was also striking how few fish are in that area now, too. Aside from a few schools of American Shad and a couple of bass, it was pretty desolate. Very, very different than it was five or so years ago.

The only thing worse tha bad press is no press at all I guess. It's a sickness
This assumes that there's really such a thing as bad press. A quick look around the globe these days really makes me wonder  .

Might be a dumb question -- what shoes do you guys wear when going kayak fishing?  I see to float the kayak it needs to be in at least 6-9" of water, which means I need to wade into the water.  Initially I thought I'd wear my diving boots, but now crocs seem a better idea...
I used to do dive boots as well but I've transitioned to a pair of Croc-style Merrill water shoes that I really like.
