ya I hear ya,,, I was little overwhelmed myself to be suddenly bargaining the rules of engagement with some professional bad hombres,,

  What a Rush !!!   :smt003

I think taking the offense was a good choice. Reminds me of my service days.

But maybe more on the typical bar fights. :smt004

crazy stories Don, but so fun to read (since they aren't happening to me at this time).
Being scoped out by guys like that out in the middle of nowhere probably feels similar to being offshore in a kayak and seeing a white shark giving ya "the eyeball".
At the same time, I envy your locale! Give us MOAR. :smt006

Amen, I've broken up bar fights that are usually an altered Ego, Been in-between really screwed up friends,,,

I believe this was different when I'm actually a Target and have done nothing to provoke ,,

I would elevate this episode above a drunken bar fight ,,  :smt045

I just wanted to survive ,,,

The camaraderie if you will after the initial episode, resembled a post friendly bar fight, which was odd,

but not it's conception ,,  :smt009

Like most things in Baja, especially with,

                " That Crowd ,,, "

     As they say,,,

    " It's not personal, it's just business ,,, "  :smt028

There is a code that still exists in Baja ,,

I believe I got to experience that,

Never experiencing it again would be just fine ,,,  :smt045

Thanks PISCEAN ,,,

   Nice to hear from ya,

Your right, it's pretty much the same,,  Your way outgunned,

               Not on your turf,

Odds are not good ,,,  :smt009

Thanks for the support of my writing from you and others,

It's tempting,

  but Jesus ,,,  complicated ,,,,

I'll see what I can do,,,

pretty much keep this stuff under wraps to protect the innocent,,

and like I said,,,  The Guilty ,,  :smt003

There's still more of the streets of La Paz of when and where you should not be ,,,  :smt002

There's even quite a bit of awesome kayak fishing ,, and Oh My other stuff ,,,   :fishing1 :smt065  :party :fish2 :yak :smoke :flower:

                                     The People  :flower: :flower: :flower:

Seasons Greetings to you and Yours and thanks for the Harpoon,,  :smt114

You can bet that someday I'm going to be using it on a inshore Tuna en Muertos Bay ,,,  :smt006

That was a long ass read that went super fast because it was interesting. Thanks for the story. Felt like I was reading a Samuel L. Jackson script.

danglin,

great read... brought back memories when i once stayed with a friend in la paz for 3 weeks to get away from shit at home.  i too visited tecolote and a bunch of other locals only beaches.  a quick stop at a hole in the wall walk up beer store (????) where you buy a 12-pack filled with ice before hitting the road to the beach.  i remember them telling me about a road which translated to "cold balls" cuz everyone drove around with a cold beer between their legs on that stretch of road, lol.

spent lots of days backing the truck back up on the beach, pulling out a chair and sticking in the surf so when the waves come up it would cool you off... drank lots of ballenas and micheladas on the beach... even tried spear fishing at night for the first time, lol.  after drinking all day we would end up at a "taco truck" corner and eat the best fuckin' tacos ever... i vaguely remember getting kicked of strip club (for not closing out our tab??), out in the middle of bumfuck nowhere, (it's all a blur, but you 1st danced with a girl, then go to back room... lol)

even took a $7 bus ride to cabo once too... fun times in baja...

i found out 5 years later, they guy i stayed with got murdered by cartel...

great memories down there!  haven't been back since.  thanks for taking me back...

Thanks,

been waiting for someone to confirm some of my details,,

I'm pretty sure I know the beer store your talking about right on the Malecon,

 Hasn't changed ,,

Yes,, The " Cold Balls ,, " are actually the most dangerous thing in La Paz ,

Lots of nasty DUI accidents here,, I know I'm going to work soon as most ex-pats I met, had stories of being first responders,,,

   * Safety tip is to keep a close watch on oncoming cars ,,, *

I have seen Sobriety Check Points out that way too, especially around fiesta days, with La Paz,

       That's every other day ,,,  :smt044

The Buses, totally the best kept secret,, in town, around,, really nice, everyone has food, I've gone past my stop as I was having such a good time,,,  :smt001

ya, * another tip*, thats pretty much " Eastern Block Cats ,,,"  running the strip clubs/prostitution ,,,

  Could be trouble ,,,   :smt045

The Cartel,

I didn't meet anyone that was not affected by them in some way,

not to be trifled with and stay out of the way,

It's kind of like here in that it's mostly crime on crime,,, usually,,

till they go nuts,  :evil3: :evil1:

 who's that ?

The wheels of justice down here are shall we say,  " Fluid ,,, "

Having to read the ever changing room be it banditos or the federalies,,,

I've got to say in all my time in Mexico, Central America and months on my bike in the Yucatan,

I've most always been met with warmness and a hospitality that makes me believe in humanity again ,,,

from some of the poorest of the poor,

                                Totally warms my heart,

As dangerous as, " some people " have made it sound down here,

 percentage wise,  ?

were in a much more dangerous place called the U.S. ,,,  :occasion17:

      IMHO ,

La Paz is one of the safest places on Earth,,,   :hippy2:
