Aloha NCKA,

Saturday is Derby day, should be a good time.
here is the event link, https://www.facebook.com/events/308747363238971/

Swell looks mellow and the contest window is during a decent part of the tide. A mellow swell year is a great time to work on your surf launches and landings due to the amount of help thats hanging around on the beach.

apologies for the late notice, I have not been a part of planning this event this year.

Hope to see some NCKA'ers there!

Aloha,

Isao

Is there a report to this Derby ?

How did everybody do ?

If not in the Derby, has anyone else gone at Baker Beach this year, how was it ?

Thank you

Derby was a success. Not our most productive year but 30 to 40 people ate crab and had an awesome potluck.

surf was fun to launch in and calmed down a bunch for the landing.

not sure if that link will work, but here is another just in case.

Nice video!!  I'm launching at 5min 25sec.   I ended up accidentally snagging a snare on my rudder that I had to shake off, so many lines in the water.

Pretty typical Baker Beach day for me, a couple of keepers but not too many.  Met lots of people on the water, definitely a fun day.

I was ready to pack away the camera by then. And believe it or not, the launches were more exciting than the landings. The swell flattened out so it was mostly smooth, uneventful landings.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

Looks more like a demolition derby than a crab derby :smt002

Glad to hear that---I was thinking many yard sales.

Even though I've never crabbed, I'd like to give this a try next year.

Haha....that video is awesome!  Bunch of good sports there!  I remember dumping my kayak on the beach at Crabfest 2017 on a tiny little 1 footer.  Someone forgot to pull his rudder up!
