AlsHobieOutback,

I did a little trolling and see that you're in the SC area. I'm heading down to a conference at Asilomar on Nov 1-3 and would be able to deliver the TI, if you are interested.

Let me know what you think,

AlsHobieOutback,

Sorry it doesn't. I use a Rhino T-Loader to put it on the Hobie TI Cradle on my Tacoma. I've included a photo of the TI on my truck . . . also shows my little teardrop trailer. This was last summer in Lakeport.

If you are interested, make me an offer. I've decided to sell and am very motivated to move on.

If you have an Outback and are interested in a trade + cash, we might be able to work something out. I'm wanting to get a couple Outbacks, for more versatility in places I can launch from.

Let me know,

Bruce

Next time . . . I'll get up early and hit the morning slack tide . . .

Oops . . . can’t blame autocorrect for that one . . . the relief zipper does help with “emerging” . . . 😜

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Hobie TI & Boonedox Landing Gear
« on: December 26, 2021, 02:11:23 PM »
I’m tired of unloading my TI to remove my scupper cart. I beach launch and use Wheelez, which are great on the sand, but make installing the scupper cart I. The water a real problem, especially if there is any surf.

The price tag o the Hobie Beach Cart ($700-ish) is way too pricey, plus it’s impractical to carry on the kayak.

Has anyone tried to install Boonedox Landing Gear on a TI or AI?

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: Dry vs Semi-Dry Suits

I’ve been wearing a Kokatat Hydrus semi-dry suit and have taken plunges in the Pacific Ocean (voluntary), just to test it out. With a PFD on, the neoprene neck seal didn’t allow much water into the suit . . . I made sure to fully emerge myself  . . . as best I could with a PFD and the air trapped inside the suit. It may be that the air escaping from the suit may have kept water from seeping into the neck seal.

I’ve been a diver for 50 years and LOVE my dry-suit . . . the relief zipper is a real blessing . . . just make sure it is completely sealed before you play in the water. Two legs filled with water are REALLY HEAVY . . . found out the hard way. 👍😎

Kayak Sailing / Re: TI and AI rear crossbar question
« on: November 26, 2017, 09:25:10 PM »
I’ve lifted my TI by the crossbars several times. I agree with previous posts that these are meant to take a lot of stress, so using them to lift your yak shouldn’t be a problem. When the yak is fully loaded with gear & two adults, pounding thru the water at 8-10 mph, that’s a lot more stress than picking up the empty hull.

I’ve had a TI for 2 years and bought it so my wife and I could enjoy being on the water together. I load & unload the boat myself. I use a Rhino Rack and have loaded it on top of my Sequoia and Tacoma. It isn’t light, but with practice, you can “almost” make it look easy. Frankly, the most difficult thing is lifting the bow up from shoulder height to overhead to clear the Rhino Rack. After that, it’s easy peasy.
I’m 61, 5’-7”, and not in super physical shape, but I can load it solo.
Good luck!!!

I’ve taken my TI crabbing in Tomales Bay 3-4 times, halibut fishing once, am looking forward to going rock fishing and trolling for salmon. Love the boat and am continuing to buy gear and reduce what I take along.

Gonna drop pots in Tomales or Doran for an overnight soak. Hopefully they’ll be there in the morning. Heard Doran at 40-50’ is productive. Will let you know tomorrow.

I just joined the Island Club in May. I have a TI and would like to get together with other Islanders to compare notes.
