The Chrissy launch down by fort point pier has suckie parking for sure, but there is a huge lot down toward the yacht club that hardly ever fills. It is only a few feet to the beach, and 50yds or so to the water. The aquatic park launch is easy, but the parking is horrendous!

Well the swell forecast looks good and maybe enough wind to sail. Here is the WX for Muir Beach. We may end up doing some peddling to get around the lighthouse and can rockfish on the Marin headlands or salmon troll till the wind picks up at 11 AM. Will make the official go, no-go call tomorrow.

Saturday: W wind 6 to 8 kt. Patchy fog before 11am. Mixed swell...W 4 ft and WSW 1 ft. Wind waves around 1 ft.

Salmon Report: http://www.usafishing.com/GGreport.html
I would say salmon trolling and mooching is definitely worthwhile and bring some rockfish tackle too. May be a few butts on the Marin side too.

I added a waiver to the first post. Please print, sign and bring to the event.

Thanks! Scott

Scott I never lunched from Horseshoe Cove before, it looks like there is a launch ramp. Is it trailer friendly or go for the car-topper.
Thanks for putting this thing together. Put me down for Chips and paper plates.

I'll bring a green bean tofu salad or something like that and ginger ale.

This is going to be so much fun.

We have been blessed with good WX so IT'S A GO!!!:

WX for Marin Headlands 9/8/2012
W wind 8 to 10 kt. Patchy fog before 11am. Mixed swell...WNW 4 ft and SW 1 ft. Wind waves around 1 ft.

Please re-read the first post and let me know what you are bringing for the potluck. Bring salmon trolling and mooching stuff as well a rockfish stuff. We will head north to Muir and troll for salmon first then fish rockfish if the salmon arent biting. Load the waypoints into your GPS. If it is foggy, you will need them. Should be fun.

Pat -

I haven't launched there either but there appears to be a launch ramp which is trailer friendly on the west side of the cove in front of:

Golden Gate Station
435 Murray Circle
Sausalito, CA 94965

There is a small beach on the east side of the ramp we can use for staging after launching. The parking looks to be east of the ramp along the water.

SteveS may know more about the launch.

I'll run down there and take a look today or tomorrow.  The last time i was down there was a few months back (jetty fishing), the ramp was all roped off, but it looked temporary.

I'm interested but never sail the AI before (it still at HobieDave's house).  Would someone willing to show/throw me the rope?  :smt003

I could give you a few pointers Sonny but I'll be out of town.  Let's get together for a spin in Monterey when I get back.

Sonny

I will give you a quick lesson before we launch and help you rig the boat. Read my article http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=39153.0 first as well as the Hobie AI manual. The conditions are going to be very newbie friendly and the AI is probably the easiest boat to sail on the water.

Saturday: W wind 6 to 10 kt. Patchy fog before 11am. Mixed swell...W 3 ft and SSW 1 ft. Wind waves around 1 ft.

We won't be sailing fast but should be able to have some fun. The lighter winds are better for rockfishing and salmon trolling anyway. The west wind will be great once we round the lighthouse and head north.

When we round Point Bonita head for the fleet. Here is the report from yesterday.

It is starting to look like we are seeing a late, but very welcomed push of salmon off the Golden Gate. The bulk of the salmon fleet were trolling along the edge of the North from just outside #1 buoy to 2 to 3 miles south of Muir beach on Wednesday 9-5. Roger on the Salty Lady reported 13 salmon for 11 anglers to 27 pounds with many other big fish lost. Roger said that these fish are mostly all spawners and not the mixed fish they saw on the Southside earlier in the week. Out of Emeryville three boats the Tailsman, Sundance and Salmon Queen combined for 33 salmon to 25 pounds for 26 anglers. They too reported many BIG fish lost along the way. There are still more fish pushing through the waters off Bodega bay and it looks like scores  and counts will only improve for those fish (the bottom of the funnel) off the Golden Gate. The weather was flat and foggy and the forecast looks great.

The bell buoy is west of Point Bonita
N 37 48.695'
W 122 32.411'

The whistle buoy is west of Tennessee Cove
N 37 50.016
W122 34.099
