About to pull the trigger on a new kayak and (think) I have it narrowed down to the aforementioned two. Would love opinions on my potential choices and suggestions outside of these if you think there is a better alternative. I will try to paddle them prior to buying, I will see what is available.

My criteria:
1) Mostly fly fishing rivers here in Arkansas
2) Some bass fishing on lakes
3) Lightweight, as I have to get it on top of a lifted SUV
4) Stability over tracking, as this will mainly be used in rivers
5) Ability to mount an anchor

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Josh

Cen Coast and RockRoach both have put seat time in the Coosa...may want to shoot them a PM and see what they say?

Best of luck whatever way you go!

Thanks vwool. I do like the Mayfly, but big drawback is the weight. At 89 pounds vs. the Coosa at 65 pounds. I have a lifted Landcruiser on 35" tires, so pretty difficult to get it on top. My T13 was a PIA, buy manageable. Not getting any younger. Thanks for the note.

The Coosa is really easy to manage off the water. And it paddles ok; not great, but if you aren't paddling 4+ miles then it doesn't matter. The seat is comfortable. It feels quite stable otw, like you'd have to TRY to flip it over (altho I never use the high seat position). Not sure about standing to flyfish but the deck is pretty clean/open so there's plenty room for stripping line etc. My only complaints would be that it doesn't handle well in rough ocean conditions w/big waves [aka easy to get seasick] and there isn't a convenient spot for a fish finder.

Thanks Pat! Unfortunately no ocean conditions here in Arkansas. Guessing I'd only be doing a few miles here and there on the lakes for Bass. Main use case is going to be fly fishing tailwaters for trout.

Do you think the design of the boat would accommodate an anchor system?
