General Talk / Likely White Shark Fatality-Pt Reyes not in press yet
« on: October 01, 2023, 04:38:03 PM »
Just got a message from a buddy still working for the NPS. Some time this morning a group of three hikers at Pt. Reyes dropped down to an isolated beach and decided to go for a swim and it ended tragically for one.

While in the water two of the swimmers noticed a commotion in the water and a large blood slick and could not find the third swimmer. This has not yet hit the press but looks pretty certain. Marin Coast In October and swimming in the water are a horrible combination. Likely, searchers are still trying to locate remains…RIP😞

General Talk / Help with Sonoma coast Rockfish spot
« on: August 14, 2020, 05:53:07 PM »
Ok NCKA brethren, am embarrassed to say I live 30 minutes from Jenner and have fished in my kayak but few times on our coast. Know the Lost Coast very well. That said I really only have fished out of Timber Cove a couple of times and don’t even know the reefs north or south. Looking for some help on a solid Rockfish launch locale for tomorrow. Heard Ft Ross is good, Ocean Cove, Stillwater, etc. Not asking for gps coordinates just a decent spot. Don’t know what kind of current access there is in our current Covid world. Hope someone will throw me a bone. Ocean looks awesome this weekend and I was headed for Shelter Cove not need to be closer to home tomorrow. Hope you all get after it this weekend. Currently melting at home In Forestville at 104

« on: April 28, 2020, 12:40:27 PM »
Firstly it seems rockfish opener is Friday May 1. I know DFG was meeting to discuss delaying various openers so does anyone know if the Mendocino Rockfish opener is still May 1st and is there any Intel regarding launching kayaks at the cove...thanks

General Fishing Tips / Kayak fishing spots at Sea Ranch request
« on: September 09, 2019, 07:09:58 PM »
Hey all, gonna be at Sea Ranch for a couple of days later this week and wonder if anyone can steer me to any yak fishing spots or reefs in the area. Hoping the wind slows enough for a couple of hours on the water. Better check the marine reserve map, too!
Thanks

General Fishing Tips / Timber cove or Ft Ross?
« on: May 31, 2019, 06:44:59 PM »
Hey all, just asking for some general advice. Heather and I are going to launch the kayaks for our first trip of the year and deciding on Ft Ross or Timber Cove. Have fished TC before but now Ft Ross. Fishing better at one or the other? Have heard that you go to south lot at Ross to launch in a small cove. Is reef structure better paddling north or south at Ross? Any help appreciated...SHANNON

Hey all, have to sell my Vortex scope. It is only 4 1/2 months old. Barely used. Has some very minor scuffing on the armor coating but otherwise in like new condition, the glass is PRISTINE. Do some research and you'll see the glass is on par with European glass costing way more. I've had this scope side by side with Swarovski glass and it is very near the same. Due to some unexpected bills its gotta go. You can buy this new for $1,200 and I'm selling firm at $800.

Vortex has a "no fault" transferable warranty- if you break or damage it for ANY reason they will repair or replace for not cost. Call or text if interested. Will also be listed on CL. Shannon
