fyi,
Fishery Supply in East San Jose has really good prices on gear/bait.  Its out of the way for me, but if I need to buy a lot of stuff, its worth it.

Went to a GREAT one today on Clearlake...Limit Out in Clearlake Oaks.  Amazing assortment of plastics and good knowledge of the lake.

Good idea to support these folks.  Or we'll all end up at walmart, and they don't carry anything but worms and Bill Dance bass lures...

One of you boss types should put a link up for us on the Fisherman's Warehouse site.  I met a nice fella at Monterey Bay Kayaks who was shopping for a fishing kayak and knew nothing about us.   His name is Tim and I gave him our link.

If you are fishing in the Linda Mar area...there is a Rite Aid in the shopping center (Right behind Denny's) and they have a small fishing section. I believe the sell frozen baits as well.

In SF, go to Gus's Discount Tackle...they're super friendly, and far more helpful than Hi's Tackle Box. Oh, and their prices are much better!
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

i would buy tackle from any shop other than the pseudo bait shot / deli / bbq place at the monterey breakwater launch ramp / coastguard pier. those folks are the rudest business owners in the world. their selection is always a bunch of empty boxes.

three times i have gone into that place and i swear i will not go in there for anything anymore.

first time i wanted to buy squid and put the box on the counter and the woman gave me a dirty look and threw a bag at me. she does not like the squid they sell on their counter. if its that dirty maybe they should not sell it.

second time i got change from paying for parking at the breakwater in dollar coins, the gold ones and wanted to buy some bait in that deli shop again and the woman said they preferred not to get those dollar coins for purchases as if it were not legal tender?

third time two weeks ago when going out on a boat there at the launch i purchased anchovies for bait from them and asked if they could break a 20.00 so my wife's uncle can park the truck and trailer and the guy looked at me and said these exact words "Come on, its Sunday, banks are closed and we don't have enough." he would not even bother to look to see if he had anything. i ended up going to MB Dive Center. Those folks are a lot nicer.

What a shame since that little rinky dink business needs people to keep buying form them but if they are gonna be rude the way they are then i can't support em no matter what. i blame it on myself though. i need to be prepared with change and bait before arriving there. i can dive and fish in a lot of places. they can only do business there on that lot.

i am not alone, see here:
