I finnally got around to rigging the front of my Cuda for the upcoming trout trolling season. I went with 12" yakattack GT90's with backing plates.  also picked up two of Yakattacks new Zooka Tubes. theses things are awesome. your rods aren't going anywhere. I just need to remind my self to set the hook with a power stroke before reaching for the rods. Or switch to light wire hooks and keep 'em sharp. The Go pro is attached to a 1.5" ram ball with the roll bar mount 'cus i wanted a different angle. I'll probably move the FF to the center ball when Im trolling. I made it a point of using only 1.5" Ram balls for every mount on the Kayak, all my rod holders are interchangeable. As well as my FF mount.

Looks pretty sweet! I was thinking of putting YakAttack tracks there as well, but wondered if it would interfere with being able to stow a rod (fly rod and/or trolling) along the side rail. Do you have any sense for whether that's an issue?

Thanks.

That's not an issue. I have 8" rails on mine and the stagers are still 100% useable.

Nice job Jeff looks clean!!

what arm length are you using for your FF?  can you reach it when sitting?  I opted to place mine on center hatch with a 4" rail so I can hit buttons and see it better while paddling.  i also placed another 4" rail on the side, so i could quickly move the FF (twist and slide off) to another position, or if i wanted to access anything in the hatch.

i also thought about keeping all balls 1.5", but the 1.5" seemed too big for the side rail.  we'll see how it all works out for me.  i may regret getting the 1" ball for the FF.

I think the Arm is 6". the difference between the balls is the weight they handle. With the elite 5 the 1.5' ball will hold it a lot better than the 1" ball. The 1" ball is good for the 4" units or cell phones. I cant reach it from the seat but I don't need to often. I can also move it to the center ball. Ive learned to use my toe to mark way points too.

ahhh,  that explains the bare feet  :smt001 I got  the  elite 4  so I had a choice between ball sizes.

I use a 1.5" on a yak attack rail with no issues yet.

Mines on the 6" arm ram mount with the 1.5 ball way up front. I can reach it just fine scoot up a bit on the seat and its reach able. If I had the parts to rail mount I would have and that's still an option. I had my ff on the hatch for almost a year before I decided that's not the place for it. I would highly recommend mounting on tracks or up on the flats up front. Keep that hatch clear.
Notice I also hinged my hatch at the top.

I like the ability to move it around. Trolling twoi rods durring the winter it will be on the hatch. But in the ocean its off to the side so I can use a center mounted rod holder. When I go down south and fish SD bay and the tides ripping I like to have a rod dead sticked in the center and drift backwards with the tide. Having 4 ram balls all the same size lets me configure however I want for that day.
