We are headed down to LA for my wife's family reunion this weekend. My wife and I are thinking of bringing at least one kayak along for the trip. Anybody know of any good spots down there to try? If not from the kayak we will at least try from shore.

If you want something thats a little south of LA with the Kayak I would hit Newport Beach Harbor.  You use to be able to launch for free at the Coast Guard station and park on the street (not sure if that still is legit).  You can troll small rapalas/swimbaits/krocodiles and pick up some small barracuda.  Though what I use to do a lot was fish small swimbaits and plastic worms around the docks/eel grass for Spotted Bay Bass.

Thanks Liiverbass... I will check it out when I get down there. Surf forecast looks good and it doesn't look like to much wind so I may be able to give it a try.
