Just got a call from Fred.  He just drove down 1 and said a fleet of boats off Marina, just north of Soldiers club.  No wind and pretty calm other than a decent sized swell.

Pt Pinos, not so pretty.  Not really ideal kayak conditions as of 10 am.

If the weather calms for Sunday, I think I'll pass on Pt Pinos.  What ever the bay is like, it will be worse there.  I've personally gone from flat calm in the bay to huge swells and some churning going around the pt via boat.

The paddle from Monterey to Marina is just too far, but you could get out to 180-200 ft, just short of the soldiers club.  Should be protected there.

Moss is still decent, with most people targeting the Mulligan area.  If I went from Moss on Sunday, I'd go against the grain and hit the North side of the canyon, given most of Saturday's fishing pressure will be south.  Plus if the wind come up, it will usually blow from the north making it a better paddle in.

Right now, I'm on the fence with the weather.

Stuart

This reports sounds like sat is the day if at all.

Saturday the 16th the NW wind swell should continue to decline, dropping size towards the chest high range.

Sunday the 17th the NW wind swell is expected to increase size around west facing breaks towards the chest to head high range. This is also when our next SW swell is due. The SW is minor in comparison to the NW, but still should fill in as waist to chest high sets for most south facing breaks.

I think thats too far for me to drive risking the big wind douche... might do a little exploratory mission to linda mar. Salmon would probably be a miracle but the stripers have been hitting down there.

good luck dudes

That wind and swell is what is pushing the salmon in closer. It means more upwelling closes to shore and brings the bait in. It's one of those damned if you do and damned if you don't things.
