Title: twisted leaders
Post by: mikechin on October 16, 2009, 11:27:49 PM
For stripers I had always used 5-6' of 17-25lb mono, with the lighter stuff for unweighted Deceivers and the heavy stuff for big Clousers. Of course lots of times I would be lazy to match the leader when tying on a new fly, and the results are not pretty.

On the Dan Blanton website I've been hearing about the superior turn-over of twisted leaders. The general idea is explained in the section on leaders:

Leo Gutterres (LGutterres@aol.com) developed this system, he's a very nice guy, and if you send him an inquiry, he'll send you his version of the instructions, plus an example leader.

I've made some from 12-lb Pline and 15-lb Ande, they work great. No more wind knots.
