So I bought a new Ride 135, and I have an existing dolly (nothing special, the standard Malone clipper style) and I because the hull is a non-standard shape, it is extremely difficult to get the kayak to balance on the dolly.. Any time I hit a bump the kayak slides off the dolly sideways.. And it is a damn heavy kayak, so the dolly is really important.

I  have also been warned away from the through-scupper type dollies because they allegedly can damage your scuppers?

Does anyone know A. if the scupper dollies (with a heavy kayak) are damaging to a kayak or B. does anyone have a favorite type of dolly that will work with the hull of a ’13 Ride 135?

Thank you for your time!  :smt003
Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

I just use the beach Wheeleez on mine and tie it on. Works fine.  I don't think any of the scupper (Hobie) wheels out there will be the exact right width to fit that yak. If it slides off of whatever you are using it must not be tied on tight enough.

Made my own cart out of PVC (Heavy) fitts into the two grooves underneath... Then a cinch strap holds it in place...
Come on out! It's time to play. It's time for TROUT Bass and STRIPER. Let go of the hand brake!

Hmmm, I strapped the sh*t out of it and cranked the hell out of it, and it will still slip if it shifts because the hull shape is waaaay different than the dolly shape..

And I busted the sh*t out of a PVC dolly already also <LOL> :smt005

Not sure if we have the same problem here, but my Caribbean 12 would not sit properly on my Wheelez cart. Dan suggested a mod for the cart. Easy to make and works great.

That's a good idea Al. How about the fold up part though? That would work well for the Ride.

That is a really great idea, I bet if you pinned at least one end of those instead of bolted them it would still be able to fold it up.

4 bolts and wing nuts. Comes apart fast and easy. The wheeleze frame is pre-drilled for 1/4" bolts. Clips would work too, but I didn't have any on hand.

I have been paddling a Ride135 since 2007.  I have made and hated 3 sets of wheels, all had the same problem you had.  Then I bought mini wheeleez and did what Alfredo showed above (learned it from HobieDave I think, it was several years ago), it worked but still poorly.  Then bought big beach wheeleez, I'll do the Alfredo style trick on that too, but even stock the beach wheeleez are the best I've had in 7 years.  if you have the $200, buy them from Dan now, they get more expensive every year...

Just picked up some Wheeleez (or however that's spelled) from Dan at Headwaters in Lodi (thanks for putting that buy together!! Still a few left for anyone interested!) I'm going to try these (see attachment) with added cross braces made by the same company that Dan also sold me, I expect this to work famously, will let you all know next week!
