Picked up a brand new (new old stock) 'Old Town ~ Caspian' 12' kayak.  Never been on the water.  Cool front hatch with 2 built in rod holder tubes.  Hope to mount up a Lowrance Elite 4 DSI to this for my Stillwater Cove & Sand Dab kayak.  A removable, adjustable rod holder or two and a mike crate should round this thing off.  Lite & I don't mind applying some rock gardening to it.  Guess it is based off the old Scrambler XT.  But of a bulbulous bow & flat, smooth footwell area with adjustable foot rests.  Impulse purchase :smt003

yeah looks like the scrambler I had. As you mentioned a bit of a plow horse but totally serviceable.

Great, now I have to do some research about this thing...because I never heard of it. But it does resemble a Scrambler XT, which I found to be a bit cramped and I'm only 6' tall. Maybe without the molded footwells, it will be less of an issue though. You bringing it to SWS tomorrow?

I'll limit this to short distance SWS and coastal sand dab hops.  Need ANOTHER one I guess for longer distance SWS trips. :smt044

Would make a good dive platform as well since it looks wide a heck!  Heard that this model is the hull of one and the deck of another but can't find much info on it.  Doesn;t look to even be available anymore.  Very little online about it.  Bought on a whim...  no worries though!

Looks good man. The scrambler xt is a hell of a boat in the surf and like Pat my main gripe was the molded foot wells being too narrow. Looks like they solved that problem and added some other features too. Congrats.

Really wasn't on the hunt for ANOTHER kayak but couldn't pass it up.  Procuring a touring kayak this evening....  My fleet went from 2 Pungo's to 7 yaks in all since Christmas.  All i need now is a white Cabriolet.... :smt044
