i believe you all call it "immersion gear"?

what am i wearing during the winter months, floating in a big frosty lake?  Farmer Johns?

or a dry suit?  this is all foreign to me.  initially, i thought i would put the boat into deep storage.  now?  not so much.  i wanna keep at it.

Never been here.  It just calls to me. The homes being built, the green area. I just want to explore.

Anyone know of a launch spot nearby. I called a few marinas and they don’t have ramps. I would need to drop off a boat dock.  Down is easier than pulling one (A kayak)up I imagine.

Help?

General Talk / It all came together today. Kayak bass fishing.

I’m progressively getting better at bass fishing.  I’m casting better and more accurately.

Today was shocking.  I had a game plan before I even paddled out. It worked slowly but I kept watching my fish finder looking for deep waters next to cover.  I caught my biggest bass ever.  And hooked two giants that I lost!  I forgot my net! The dang net!   Besides  forgetting  my net AND CELLPHONE TI TAKE PICS;  the trip worked out. This was on a tiny lake near my home.

My first FALL season bass success!   I’m usually done. I’ve never caught an October bass.

I’m shocked how small the 2500 Procyon is.  This is my 1000 Fuego.   The 3000 Fierce  is huge by comparison.

Wife wants to shop today, so no maiden voyage with the reel :(

I’m a bait caster guy. When I took up surf fishing I bought a Penn Fuego 3000.  It’s fine.  I just hurl baits into the waves.   It hauls in fish fine.

I thought Fuegos were Dawia's  if you liked your Fuego buy an Fuego LT I have heard good things about them very light reel. I'm really happy with Stradics. Reels are tough to get right now I've been looking for an Stradic FL and can't find one.

You are correct. My brother just had a Penn fixed and the word was etched in my brain.

Introductions / Re: New kayaker looking for help with delta stripers!
« on: October 23, 2020, 01:36:02 PM »
Got to get colder before the striper really get going. Find whisky slough off hwy 4 near Stockton. Launch from the marina or levy. Pencil popper and other top water gear. Go to where the slough ends into another slough and fish there. You will see them chasing bait. Cast into the swirls! fun as hell!!! Good luck!

i was told a striper will NOT hit anything like a Whopper Plopper.  any truth to this?  my friend said they like the side to side jerky motion.  or a popper.

Fresh water bass fishing.  From a kayak mostly.

I’m a bait caster guy. When I took up surf fishing I bought a Penn Fuego 3000.  It’s fine.  I just hurl baits into the waves.   It hauls in fish fine.

For small bass from the non boating ‘lakes, I got a Penn Fierce in the 1000 size.  Again. I just grabbed it and caught fish. I have a tiny Phlueger I backpack with for mountain trout in the Sierras.

That’s the extent of my spinning world. I kinda let the store owner pick my reels

Now?  I’m bass fishing a lot. I got my baitcasters figured out.   I’m kinda lost on a nice spinning reel.  Some friends tell me a spinner doesn’t need to be nice.  Some say buy something nice.  I almost dropped $$ on a Stradic 2500.  But I balked at the price.

How is that Daiwa Procyon AL?  Save a few bucks over the Stradic.

I have two Diawa Procyon 3000's and am in love with them!!! I fish them in the salt and fresh. I used them to drop shot when i lived up north and fished Minnetonka for smallies.

Now i catch perch and rockfish with em!  Super smooth and magseal is excellent- have em running strong for 3 or 4 years now

thanks bud.

General Talk / Re: Battery Storage for FF
« on: October 22, 2020, 07:44:28 PM »
I use the sane FF. I paired it with a 10 amp hour Nocqua battery. It comes  in a Velcro case. I run the case lid around a ziplock holding my foam supports together and press the Velcro together. No movement.  The battery itself seems waterproof.   I’m gonna put a round hole storage hole in the front and move the battery there.
