If you get to try peacock, I really liked it.  Like a lean turkey.

General Talk / Scammers

Had someone call from 408-963-5952 and say they were from the Santa Clara county Sheriffs department and said I had two warrants for failure to appear for jury duty summons.  They were very insistent that I was in serious trouble and needed to prove that I wasn't the one that signed a certified letter for the summons.  They started instructing me to stay on the phone and get ready to drive down to the office while still on the phone.  I started getting suspicious there, but as soon as they said that I had a bail that would need to be paid I decided to accidentally drop the call, and then try and call the number back which went to a empty mail box. They called repeatedly and asked why I got disconnected and I confronted them as scammers, and hung up.  They texted a lot of profanity in response.

Dang, I cant believe that I belived them for a minute there... Hopefully no one else falls for this.

Thank you Paul and AlsHobieOutback !
If you want to test the import in Navionics I can try converting the file if you are willing to let me know if it works.

34
Yep, we have the new 20fa line and 50fa line tracks with mlpa zones.  I don't actually have Navionics, but I believe Paul does and probably has the process down to import them.

35
I searched the web but can't find a map that shows the devide line between California Central-N and Cetral-S of 36degree.  Appreciate if someone can post it here.

Referring to this:

Quote
Within the Central Groundfish Management Area, seasons and
depth restrictions may differ north and south of a line extending west of 36° N. lat. (near
Point Lopez, Monterey County). The areas north and south of this line are referred to as
the Central Groundfish Management Area – North of 36° N. lat. and the Central
Groundfish Management Area – South of 36° N. lat.
(b) Central Groundfish Management Area – N

https://wildlife.ca.gov/Fishing/Ocean It looks to me like the middle of Central is Lopez Point.

Google earth shows 36 N is right about Limekiln SP

General Fishing Tips / Re: Freshwater Line Choice
« on: March 22, 2024, 07:58:38 AM »
On my powerbait rod, which is a 4' UglyStick I use 4LB mono.  My trolling setups though I use 10lb braid, and 8lb fluorocarbon top shot.  I feel like braid does better while trolling cutting through the water.  Can go up to 10lb fluoro since it's invisible in the water and some of those are big mofo's.  But 8 feels right to me most of the time

It's always been an issue, so Craigslist has these links to help guide people: https://www.craigslist.org/about/help/safety/scams/

Avoiding:

Avoiding Scams

Deal locally, face-to-face —follow this one rule and avoid the vast majority of scam attempts.

DO NOT:

provide or accept payment before meeting in person
requests to wire money are scams
requests to pay with gift cards are scams
requests to deposit a cashier's check are scams
requests to use a escrow service can be a scam
provide any financial information - e.g. bank account number, cashapp logins
provide any personal information - social security number, licenses, job references

Beware of:

    offers involving shipping or movers
"guaranteed" transactions or payment processing services
requests to call or email for more information
requests for a "code" or "verification" - these are always a scam

A good craigslist interaction will:

Use CL mail relay to discuss a specific item, service, or job
Arrange to meet in a safe, public place
    Improve humanity :)

Rev just said he would put in an order for Clam Chowder  :smt003

I'm thinking finger foods, maybe a HotOnes HoT Wing Challenge if anyone would be interested  :angry4:

You should swing by and pick up some hot sauce.  I have a bunch of the hotter ones from Hot Ones that I need to clear out to make space for more.  You can use them for wings at the Fish N Chill.
I went straight for the Last Dab X and wow, i'm super impressed with how good it really is.  Sadly, it and the other hottest ones I've tried no longer have the same effect.  I'm on a mission now to try hotter and hotter hot sauces :D If I make another run to town today I"ll give you a ping.

How strictly I the inspection there?  Do we need the mussel sticker?  If it's raining,  will they still inspect?
No rain in sight in the forecast, it's going to be way too nice for a Forebay FnC technically  :smt044. They are kind of selective about their inspections, sometimes zealous sometimes not at all. Tell them you are there for the group site and if your not the first they will probably be nice.  First one there (usually me) gets the full treatment.
