Wanted To Buy / Re: Revo 13 or 16

How come Hobies color options are only orange and chartreuse?  What happened to the sand/grey option?

In other news:

If you have a dune/sand/grey color 2017ish Revo 13 or 16 in good shape that youÂ’d like to part with, let me know!  [emoji1688][emoji1688]

If you are fishing anywhere near idiot boaters, I feel like the orange and chartreuse are great options for the extra visibility.  I kind of regret my camo Outback and wear an orange PDF and hat to try and make myself more visible.  Guess in the end, it is all personal preference.

Did the talus caves years ago.  Came in from the East side this time.  My son did the Bear Gulch cave while I hiked back to get the car.  He loved it.

Picture of a condor where you can see his big ugly head better.  Plus a yucca plant in flower.  Picture doesn't do justice: the flower is over 8 feet tall.

Short hike last weekend with wife and one of the kids.  No "super bloom", but a wide variety of flowers on display, plus plenty of condors.

Maybe already posted here, but in case not:

First kayak I bought was a used one from HMB kayaks.  Paid something like $400.  It was a the Brusurf tandem (https://brusurf.com/collections/kayaks/products/tandem-kayak), which worked equally well as a tandem and as a single (actually has 3 seat positions).  I only used it for one season, as I pretty quickly started to have pedal-kayak envy, but it was super useful to take one boy out at a time and as a single.

I think HMB kayak still has some of them and you could check if they are selling any.

AOTY / Re: AOTY 2023 Participant list

Okay you can put both of my boys in the Junior division

RedStorm (last year as a Junior for him)
BlueLorcan

Hoping to get them on the water more this year.  AOTY will help with that!

The rules for Junior division say:

"Junior DOTY is limited to members under the age of 18 on January 1, 2020. Entrance is free. Prizes are TBD but will be awarded to at least the top three."

I assume this needs an update?

Thank you for noticing that. Yes it should say 2023

SW swell 2ft @ 15 secs.

I don't know PP that well, but I would expect that you will want to watch your timing.  Even at just 2ft, those longer period swells have a lot energy.  But probably just a shore break that you can easily time.  Good luck!

A little dirty, but otherwise fine.  Good for kids soccer games and mixing jungle juice (but not at  both at the same time).

~20 inches tall.

Will trade for a good fish story.

Pickup in Mountain View/Los Altos area.

(Is it obvious that I am cleaning my garage?)

Never used.  Too be honest, I found it a little bulky for kayak.  Has backback straps and would be great for short hike to carry beers and cold lunch.

$50.

Pickup in Mountain View/Los Altos area.

Lightly used.  Not sure what exact model.  Top bar is ~17 inches across.

$50.

Pickup in Mountain View/Los Altos area.

I generally use Eddie's math for launching from a beach:  Swell should be more than 2x Period... nothing more than 3ft for me; and no wind over 10mph.  These days, I like my kayaking to be relaxing and comfortable.  :smt003

I am pretty much an exact match to these rules of thumb.  Kinda settled there after 3 years of trial and error.  At some of the launches even 3ft can be a bit big when coupled with those longer periods (12 sec+), and you need to make sure you have your timing right.
