Safety First / Surf Zone and Wave Dynamics Class
« on: September 07, 2022, 07:41:40 AM »
Hi everyone,
Well just got into the Surf Zone and Wave Dynamics Class for Oct 2 and was hoping I could get someone to join me and pay for the other spot as they make you get 2 spots to hold the class.

The spot would be $150 and any yakker welcome to join me at HMB Kayak..... hopefully the surf will not be too bad but I guess that would be the time for it as training for surf entry and exit would not be a valuable with no waves.

Hi everyone,
I have a garmin striker 4 plus and love it but..... Went out with others salmon fishing in a fog and did not feel comfortable not knowing where I am..... the others all had chart plotters and knew where we were and I was good (as long as I did not loose them) but figured I need to know where I am if I were to be lost in a fog.   I do have a compass and felt that should I get lost I could always follow a heading to get back (maybe) anyhow looking for a good less expensive and small to an extent ff and chart plotter.

So any recs?
Thanks

For Sale / Ctug Kayak Cart
« on: June 06, 2022, 10:18:46 AM »
Hi NCKA folks
Got a c-tug Kayak cart for sale.
Got it and use it about 4 times and decided to get a cart that fits my Old Town sportsman pdl120 better due to hull shape.
Messed around too long and cannot return it..... my loss could be your gain.... regular wheels and sand wheels too.
Seems to be build well but does not work for my Yak

Asking $130 also listed on Craigslist and market place but with a little higher price.... I would rather it go to a NCKA member

For Sale / Kayak Cart for Sale
« on: May 02, 2022, 03:24:24 PM »
Hi Ncka mimbers..... got a ctug Kayak cart with both regular wheels and their sand wheels that does not work very well for my Kayak.   My Kayak is an old town sportman and the parts that hold the Kayak miss most of the bottom of my yak and therfore it slides around a bunch.

My loss is your gain if anyone is interested..... two months old.   Looking for $150.

Hi everyone,
Just got a fishing kayak and am hoping to meet up with other fisherman in my area.  I live in Petaluma and have fished both Bodega and Tomales Bays.   I love fish and fishing but would have to say I am not super experienced.  I have caught salmon, crab, clams, a halibut (yum) and also have speared rockfish in my earlier spear fishing years.

I have been on boats but not a lot and must say the whole organization of space is a goal of mine and being confined to a kayak seems a challenge.

I see rockfish season is opening soon as well as salmon and would love to tag along with anyone willing to allow it.   I so far am comfortable on the water both in my kayak and on boats and am a surfer of at least 35 years so have been in some situations where I have been tested.... I have a very healthy respect of the ocean which is one of my reasons to seek out partners.

I am camping at Doran April 7th - 10th but am open to going out sooner....
I love all fish I have ever eaten and the whole nature thing.

So if any one out there would like to meet up I would love to tag along and hopefully learn more about how to safely fish from my new kayak.

Thanks

Hi Everyone,
My name is Troy Pearce my login is troypearce@gmail and also is my email.
Been envious of you guys ever since started using my crab snares at Bodega Harbor watching the pedal kayaks smoothly moving to spots I cannot reach by casting from the jetties.

Just bought a Old Town Pdl 120 and it really moves well.... better than I thought it would be really have only about 2 hours with it in the Petaluma River.  Then about 4 hours trying to lift it to the rafters of my garage with pulleys etc.   Did find some good ideas for that at Youtube so now trying to get that together so I can load unload by myself.

I am looking forward to using it in and around Bodega but need to get the safety gear and get outfitted which looks like it will cost some more $$$

Any tips for Uhf / fish finder and other safety gear will be welcome and soon maybe I will see you out there.  It seems like a lot to learn but also seems cool.

I really have limited experience fishing saltwater but also want to get into that as well..... more $$$.

Thanks
Troy
