Had never heard of it before last night, but when watching Youtube came across MooMoo's SC knot video:

It sure seems worth trying!  Found some other videos on it, with some slight variation on the tying as well.  Haven't seen it posted, so thought I would drop a link and see if anyone else is using it over the FG/Alberto/UNI-UNI favorites.

I'm going to give it a try. I use Alberto, but don't like how large it is. FG is not reliable for me. Maybe SC knot will be my Goldilocks knot.

Me too, I favor Alberto when off the water and use uni-uni when otw.  This looks like it wouldn't be hard, going to try it out tonight as well.

I tried this only once after seeing it and couldnt make it stick, so I just need more practice on it, looks really neat tho.

Seems that there are some variations on the ways to do it when looking at other videos.  I wanted to give a shout to Moo, but check out some other videos too.

I think most of the San Diego BFT boats run Alberto. That’s what I was taught and if it’s good enough for those fish, it’s good enough for me. Thanks for the video though ABD the discussion. Kind of a knot geek!

Big Alberto fan, so i'm with ya.  But also with ya on being a knot geek.  Knots are tools and are fun to learn to me as well  :smt004  Some are way too hard or just don't jive with me.  The SC looks promising, but will see if I actually put it to use during the great season i'm having  :smt044

I learned the FG and the SD jam knot on a tuna boat and love them now lol, but the Uni is just so easy and hasnt failed me so on the water if I lose my leader, its just a double uni for me now, maybe a rizuto finish on the ends to help it through the guides.

Recently I was camping and a buddy was having trouble tying up his hammock, he was like "If only I was a knot guy". Me ears perked up and I proudly proclaimed that I was a knot guy LOL. It was my time to shine!

I totally agree!  I cannot tie the Alberto easily on the water, so my otw go to is the uni-uni. But at home sitting with good lighting and wearing my glasses, I prefer the Alberto most of the time.

I tried a few times, but still having trouble tying this knot.  It looks simple enough, but when I try to do the first cinch it never comes out like the video tutorials.  Will keep trying, but basically I still love the Alberto knot for it's ease of tying.

I was able to finally tie it correctly last night (I think..) and I couldn't break it with my usual strength pull test.  Still not a lot of confidence in it, but it sure looks like it will cast well!  Not giving up!  I guess since I never learned the FG knot that it was a little harder for me to learn.  But thanks MooMoo as well for inspiring me to try it! :smt006

From my experience with knots, it takes some practice to dial it down. I go back and forth with the SC knot and FG knot. I think it has a lot to do with personal preference and confidence. When I first tried this knot, it felt like the learning curve was easier than the FG knot and I liked the smaller diameter than alberto, albright and uni-uni that I’ve used before.
