Came across another option for carrying two kayaks, a "pop up" tent and gear.  Interesting idea, but I think they are a bit too pricey for most of us.

Marmite,

Who manufactures the pop-up tent trailer in your pix? I researched that idea early on, but my CRV's tow weight is so limited that I finally gave up. The one you show looks like it might work so I'd like to check it out.

I like the trailers that Andy (kickingBass) Frank (Frank Fishing) and Mike (Tote) posted....but one thing I'd like to add on to their trailers is a metal lock box (for security) that can hold several paddles (long enough for a one piece) plus PFD's and maybe even another separate lock box for rods / reels and tackle :smt045

just my thoughts....

I'm sure it "buildable".....it seems like we have a lot of "pimp'n" talent in NCKA  :smt002

I was thinking the same thing Mooch. I was looking at different alum. diamond plate tool boxes. It would give you a little more peace of mind when in a parking lot somewhere.

Janice,

Did you check out the A-liner hardsided popup trailer?  The smaller ones can sleep 2 people and weigh around 1000#.

I'm a little sensitive about rip offs right now. Some scumbag lifted a laptop at my shop when my sister turned around for a second. This was after she had moved it so he could see into the display case easier. :smt013 :smt044

Dang your fast Joel. I thought about putting a box on the trailer but I have the back of my camper shell and my tube for rods on it's lumber rack. Go for the Van it's you all the way plus the color of your favorite fruit. Joel.

I saw lockable tubes on a trailer. It was pretty cool. I have thought about doing something similar but the width of a paddle blade takes up a LOT more room than you realize.
I did get a couple of big weatherproof lockable boxes that I use for my dive gear and such. They are not long enought to accomodate my paddle. It works well enough to keep people honest. If someone wants something they are gonna get it.
I might attempt to fabricate something to use on my trailer, but I have to get in some more fishing days before I take time for something like that.

This camper is made in AUS by kamparoo and shiped through Canada it only weighs 500 empty and easily towed by my Forester with a 1000 max tow weight.  It can sleep two adults in the queen size bed and has an attachable tent room.  It has worked great.  As is I can mount two kayaks on it when I want.
