Marine goop is a good choice, but if you want to remove it, it can be a pain. Getting the goop to release from the kayak is difficult but doable; getting the goop off the transducer is where the fun really begins...

He seemed very nonchalant after gaffing it, so I'm assuming they never go berserk at that point. Anyways, it would be awesome to hook something like that on my AI, but that's a long battle

I always thought that I'd try to make my own trampoline out of bungee cord, by weaving it into a mesh. I like the idea of it not catching wind, and I think if it is stretched tight enough, it'll would work just as well as any cloth. Does that sound totally crazy?

I feel like I've known more than my share who died of self-inflicted non-accidents. It started with my best friend in high school, and most recently, a close colleague at work just a few years ago. For me, those are the saddest of all, as it always seems like there should have been something I could have done to prevent it...

Bunch of water proofing measures (shrink wrap connector, electrical tape, and the silicone tape over that). Just hope the weather connectors hold up but I have a bunch extra for the future. I have stopped using a fuse as that was the weakest link for a long time in my system.

I use those same connectors for my battery box, inside the hull. But, I'm not sure I'd trust them in a wetter environment. For outside the hull, I think these are prolly much more likely to hold up in the long run:

I did go to Triadelphia often but, strangely, never fished there. Most of my MD fishing was in nearby trout streams. In our part of MD, they stocked trout everywhere, even in urban areas.

I have one almost identical to that, but it doesn't say "Hobie". I think I paid about that same price ($70, maybe $75) when I bought it a few years ago.

While I'm the world's biggest Hobie fan-boy, I'm not a fan of this light/flag. First, it's too short. Second, I've broken the pole a couple of times, and now it's even shorter than it was, as I had to cut off the fiberglass splinters. Third, the light itself died fairly quickly, so I got one of these, and bolted it to the top

I insert my headlight into that thing, and I think it works as well as the original light ever did.

Whereabouts in MD were you located? I lived in the Clarksville area for 7+ years, way back when, but didn't fish much there. When we moved here, it took a while for me to realize that "rockfish" had taken on a completely different meaning...
