Includes garmin striker 4cv fish finder, CTUG cart, battery box, yak attack omega rod holders and fish finder mounts, upgraded storage and rudder. Great kayak and very stable. I can easily stand on it. Asking $1,000. Located in Gilroy. PM for details.

Anybody get out to MBK lately for halibut? I plan on heading out next weekend and haven't heard of any caught in the last couple of weeks.

General Fishing Tips / Macks sling blade for halibut
« on: August 11, 2022, 03:01:42 PM »
Does anyone use the Mack's sling blade for halibut? I wonder if it's too small. I got a few to use for kokanee but they seem like they would work in the ocean for halibut? Any issues using these? They're the low profile ones that are around 5 inches long

Good to know. Thank you. I had a vibe seaghost and now have a hoodoo tempest pedal drive which I like. But I think the shearwater is an upgrade

Kayaks / Vibe Shearwater in the ocean?
« on: July 03, 2022, 09:42:53 AM »
I've been interested in the vibe shearwater. Most reviews seem to be inland or in salt flats in the south east. Anyone locally have one and take it out on monterey bay or the along the coast? Trying to see how it does in rougher water.

Places to Launch and Camp / ARW launch point
« on: June 30, 2022, 07:39:55 PM »
Hi everyone
I saw that the encinal launch at alameda is closed due to storm damage. What other locations are launching points for kayaks to fish the rock wall? It's my first time going on Saturday. Any info helps.

General Talk / Re: Salmon in Downtown San Jose
« on: January 21, 2021, 07:30:43 PM »
There are rebounding populations of salmon and steelhead in the Guadalupe River and coyote creek. The city of San jose , valley water, and local non profits are doing quite a lot to try to improve habitat and water quality. I work for the City and was a watershed inspector for a while and would be surprised everytime we'd see signs of salmon. Aside from the homeless encampment the urban streams have some beautiful spots....theres also a guy that kayaks down the Guadalupe and gives tours each year

Kayaks / Re: Pedal power folks, need help picking a new yak.
« on: January 02, 2021, 09:11:08 AM »
My dad, good friend, and I all recently got hoodoo tempest 120p pedal drive kayaks and love them! The kayaks are $1,200 and easily modifiable as you see fit. They are very stable and we use them in monterey Bay. I would check them out. I was worried the hull would not be super good quality as they are a budget wise brand that uses a common hull produced in China but the hull is actually quite thick and good quality. And they customer service is phenomenal. I replaced a vibe seaghost with the hoodoo and wouldn't go back.
