I set out to harvest the rest of the persimmons off the tree today. However, after about 30 minutes, the rains came. After a couple of hours, I just had to get out of the house, even if it meant driving in the rain. I drove to Costco to get some of the $2.39/gal gas...amazing how many people line up for gas in the pouring rain.

After loading up on gas, I decided to check out the Pacific Commons shopping area out more and look for the new Buffalo Wild Wings eatery on the block behind Costco. Noticed the new Dick's Sporting Goods store and decided instead to check it out. GoPro displays with running videos near the front door, next to the checkout stands. Shoes, exercise equipment, shoes, bicycles, shoes, archery, did I mention shoes yet (?), gun department (mostly long guns with lots of shotgun ammo in locked displays...saw no handgun ammo), archery, fishing, camping, clothes (lots of clothes), kayaks (SIK type). I was suprised to see a large fridge with bait for sale. The list of baits on sale was long but looking inside the fridge, I saw maybe only about seven types available...lots of squid.

The sales staff was very friendly and I liked the upbeat music being piped throughout the store. Didn't buy anything. Will probably not visit again unless someone drags me there. Forgot to check out Buffalo Wild Wings.

I used to see Dick's all over the place when we lived on the east coast. Wait, that doesn't sound quite right...

Anyways, I remember getting some good deals on shoes---think Big 5 prices with Sports Authority selection. Of course, that was a long time ago, so things might have changed.
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

The new Dick's Sporting Goods in Fremont sure reminded me a lot of the old Tri-Cities Sporting goods that closed down near by in 2006.

I won't shop at Dicks any more. After they pulled crap 2 yrs ago, due to shooting at Sandyhook in december. Dick's cancelled all orders on firearms. And if you had one in the pipe line, Dick's cancelled your order as well. It was close to X-mas. Many people depending on firearms, for a X-mas present, had to do something else. It was unfair to many people and politics won out. Had Dick's taken care of the paid orders I could understand their decision. But these people had already paid some money for their order. Support the local small guys you will be happier.
