Hi everyone,

I have a Big Tuna Jackson Kayak that was stored flat on the Hull for 6 months to possibly a year. I think it's a 2013, but it hasn't been used very much at all. I was storing it indoors at my parents for a year and at some point they took it off the pads where it was stored on its side and left it flat when they moved some things in the garage. I don't see any denting or anything unusual, but I don't really have an eye for that. The thing is a beast of a kayak and I'm assuming it's pretty durable. I'm probably going to email Jackson Kayak and see what they have to say. I'll try to take it out when I get a chance but its just not possible right now.

I just have never gotten to use it a whole lot, most of the time I've used it as a barge when I camp to take huge amounts of gear across lakes (Faucherie, Spalding, etc...) It's in pretty much perfect condition aesthetically. I don't really have time to take it out right now to see how it rides.

Do you think there will be any problem with it? I also have a pyramid drag anchor I'll be selling with it, along with the anchor rig set up by Aaron down in Lodi. Also have a hand made paddle from a guy out in Winters, Ca, fish finder, etc...

Thanks for the help and advice! I'm not attempting to sell it with this post, I know there's an area for that. Just looking for advice. Also I have now idea what market price is. I guess I'll start checking Ebay and Craigslist around the country.

If it didn't get hot, it's less of an issue, and I'd be surprised if it compromised its water tightness.

It's more of an issue with hull deformation and that affecting performance and tracking. If you do notice denting/ oil canning, it's not terribly difficult to work out by either leaving in the hot sun deformed side up, or working it with a heat gun and some gentle pressure. I have to work dents out of my wife's SIK (dagger, really shitty thin plastic) at the start of every season. Takes about 20 minutes or so.

If heavy stuff was stored on top of it, that could make things deform more quickly, but again, you're probably OK.

Thanks a lot for the reply. That makes me feel better. I don't think it ever got terrible hot as it was indoors albeit the floor of a garage.

I think its fine. I had a jackson big tuna and I stored it outside on the ground.  The kayak was in awful condition and still worked great.  It's a beast of a kayak
