I went up to ClearLake for a Parliament-Funkadelic / P.Funk All-Stars concert a few years ago...was eating a burger in the Konachti restaurant, when i looked outside, there was an old Ford Pinto double parking, out pops Dr.Funkenstein a.k.a. George Clinton. I immediately jumped up and out to greet him. Upon returning to my burger, my wife says,"i looked up to tell you who I saw out there, but you were already up his ass!"

for those who don't know WHAT the FUNK is?  a small sample of many!

Heard the name Kenny Roberts around the house growing up but don't remember ever meeting him. Funny how so many great motorcycle riders came from our local.

:smt005  It is old Al!...... from the Pinto Heydays!  the70's

~Tote* your a good father!

HISTORY in FUNKOLOGY...He stole the horn section from James Brown aka "theHornyHorns" then when JB found new young bass player named Bootsy Collins, he stole him too.
Put together 2 bands, same members, different style of music.
*Parliament = Funky, HornDriven
*Funkadelic = BlackAcidRock, HeavyGuitar and such.

another sample, just for the uninformed!

this one is long, but well worth it!  @1:30 the solo begins.

Bootsy Collins..LOL...no one where I grew up knew who he was except me. Even had the perforated pop out glasses from his album cover. FishHunter knows what I'm talkin' about.
I needed a poem in English in a pinch in high school so I used some of his lyrics..Like I said, No one knew who he was..esp my Engish teacher!
A smile of joy, a tear of laughter, as in happy...blah blah blah..That's all I remember. I do remember I got an A on it... :smt044

Sold a car stereo to the kid that played "Eddie" in "Eddie's Father"

Met Skip Spence on Haight street in 1980 and once before in the dressing room at Union high School in Union NJ in 1967.  Spence was psychotic by 1980, but remembered our first meeting perfectly.  (Moby Grape, for you yungins)

Wow...Bootsy!??  Wind me up!!! Great thread!

I also met Coach Seifert at Cope and Mcpheter's old fishing store years ago.  He was fishing for Stripers on his Grady in bay at one time. Nice guy.  My son also played baseball with Steve Mariuchi's son.  I had a brief chat with Steve in the snack shack line.  He used to live in Saratoga.

I talked to Fred Balitnakov, Jim Otto and forgot the other Raider at a Burger stand in Sac after a shad fishing trip in the 70's. That was cool!!  Saw Martina Navratilova (the tennis player) at an airport and saw Ziyi Zhang during the filming of Memoirs of a Geisha at Hakone Gardens in Saratoga.  My wife is on the board there so we got to watch them film it!

I just missed Harrison Ford and Clarrisa in Belize last year on a bonefishing trip. They were at a restaurant they just ate at.

Dr. Milton Love was my undergrad thesis advisor :smt003

I walked past John Malkovitch at the Cabrillo art fair in Santa Barbara.
Rented kayaks to Lee Moyer (kayak designer, Pacific Watersports) in Alaska.
Hung out with sci fi fantasy author E.K. Knight in Costa Rica.

Recently became a one-day honorary member of the H.A.C. at Bean Hollow (For a caucasian cali boy this is like getting inducted into the Yanomano tribe in South America). I'm just lucky they didn't make me eat fried chicken feet.
