Chas-if it ever stops raining Mendo is a perfect place to give yak fishing a try.  Just watch the board, and then give us a call, and we'd be glad to take you out...just bring the Fosters.

Chas I hope we can fish together soon. I would enter the derby, don't worry about not knowing what you are doing. I have caught my best fish by not having a clue. Sean, Joel and myself will be happy to show you the ropes.

And we all recognize "newbie" effect.  Your chances are greater than Dustin's this time!.... :smt002

Newb Karma is a great thing.

That was my first time to Mendo, First official fishing tournament, First official kayak fishing tournament, first time fishing live bait in freshwater, and first time spiking a kayak with a banana.

All those firsts = the winning striper.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

I may reconsider about the tourney. Definitely will be fishing, probably my best bet at the big fish would be to not enter. I seem to have a knack for providing a bigger pot, but not sharing in it.

I am hoping to come up to the lake on Thursday, May 4 and maybe camping all weekend. If anyone else will be camping, I would prefer to at least be in the same campground.

Let me know if anyone else has plans.

Will try to make the trek myself, and the first time on a big body of water(Eagle Lake) I caught two fish just trolling my rods. Did not even reel them in,  just trolled on untill they broke off, 2 strokes.
Any chance on where the group area is going to be?
Will the tourney launch from the north or south this time? Baitshop?
The fishing Mendo article, has anything changed since it was written?
Do we get to keep the fish,  or is it for the BBQ?

Is there a fish map of Lake Mendocino? Kind of late to get one by mail.

I have one that I will try to remeber to bring. It is not that big of a lake so a map is not terriblly important.

Davey:

There is no group camp for this tourney, but there is one for the Mendo tourney in the fall.  The article still stands.  There is a baitshop on Lake Mendocino Drive.  The tourney launches from the south end...btw, the camp gorund at the south launch SUCKS...avoid staying there.  There is a two fish limit, they are yours.  The bbq is included and isn't fish, burgers and dogs.  SBA=Striped Bass Assoc. of Ukiah.

Hope this will help others; it is Ukiah's newspaper and it shows the 5-day weather forecast. There is an article about fire permits going into effect and does that pertain to Lake Mendocino in anyway?
