The pool was brought up on the norcal spearfishing board, and some of the guys at the cencal meeting last night were familiar with this site.  I didn't advertize the pool, but I did learn some interesting stuff about spearfishing competition.  There's a rule about fish-feeding within 30 days of a tournament because one could hand feed a lingcod 10lbs of rockfish, then come back to it's hole and shoot it for 10 extra points.  Diabolical!

Anyway, I don't mind putting up $5 against stiff competition there (though I've been lazy about signing up since I haven't gone out yet this year).  We've already attracted a few competant spearpeople to the board, and if they'll contribute to our attemps to spearfish and abalone dive, everyone wins.  It'll be nice to recognize some of the other guys in kayaks out there too.

maybe we can do a competition where we have to shoot fish from the surface and have a max of three fish for the whole day. they will have to be a set min length greather than that of the dfg rules and winner can be by weight. heck, im just talking to myself and making the rules favorable towards myself since i have a pretty nasty sinus block. :smt003

How about not only do we have individual awards, but team awards.  There seems to be many subgroups, North Vs South.  North of the gate vs South of the gate, coastal vs inland.  I propose teams of 4, it's up to you to form your own teams and there could be a small additional registration for team competition.  I think we should compete for total bag weight.

That's my two cents

Go Team Bodega!!!

i would like to enter my friend mr. cormorant. i met him while i was diving at otter cove and he has his game down. i saw him dive down and look into a few holes and returned to the surface with a sculpin of some sort. he had good bottom time and remained positively bouyant at all times during his dive. i think he will win this pool.
