General Talk / Re: Pliny on tap?
« on: November 20, 2022, 01:31:29 PM »
Smoke Eaters on Almaden Exp *had* Elder on tap. No chance of filling a growler though. Maybe they'll score another keg, but you'll have to watch untappd to stay on top of it. Good luck!

For what it's worth, my Outback is set up with the rod holder near my right elbow. I situate the rod parallel to the kayak so my tip is right at the bow, maybe 30 degrees elevated from the plane of the water. If I use a downrigger, I set it on the same side as the rod, in a mount by the pedals. My fish finder is mounted on the left at a comfortable arms reach from my seat. Everything is located in my direct line of sight and nothing crosses the deck of my ride, keeping pedal movements free and clear.

It's not the length. It's the girth.

General Fishing Tips / Re: How do you catch anchovies?
« on: September 03, 2018, 01:51:02 PM »
The tiniest bit of shrimp added to the hook can do wonders to alleviate some lockjaw, but admittedly, it works better on sardines. Smaller size sabikis have received better attention too. I can't imagine less hooks on the setup helps or hurts the presentation, but my days of untangling 6 flailing hooks from my gear are done. I'm over that headache. I'm interested to hear what the others will say.

So is the clam real or not? Where can one find it? Asking for a friend...

It's not the length of a man's pole, it's how he uses it. Apparently in your case it's both. Holy hell, how do you wield that thing? My uninformed arse didn't know they made 'em that long.

Very cool fish and photos. Way to power through illness to make the best of what looks like a great trip!

Wanted To Buy / Monterey Bay Aquarium tickets intel
« on: May 08, 2017, 10:51:12 AM »
Looking for a little insight. What are the best options for discounted aquarium tickets these days? We have some family visiting from Brazil who have never even seen an ocean, let alone come face to face with a cruising tuna. Thanks in advance for any help!

Slumpbuster! It wasn't very big, but it got the job done, and I like it. (insert ex girlfriend joke here) Trolled frozen herring behind a flasher all over the flagpole to Ballena bay early for no love. Finally found a taker at the edge of the deep trench along the first wall at 11 am. Taped out at a hair over 22". That'll do.

See you guys out there. I feel like I already paid my dues just wading through the throngs of mommies and kids at BPS trying to get a photo with the Easter bunny. Never worked so hard for popsicles in my life.

I'm down. Let us know if/how we can help.

Curse you for posting this! :smt002
What the hell, I'll take a $50 flyer on the Aird coastal. Been looking for a simple reel for all those bay halibut I'm not catching.
